Yesterday we said an emotional goodbye to the lovely, brilliant and immensely talented photographer Elliot Franks, who I was lucky enough to call my friend for more than 25 years.

The wonderful words spoken about Elliot yesterday said so much about the man he was: kind, funny, generous and loved by so many.

He will be desperately missed by his family and friends, and by the huge number of photographers whose lives he touched along the way.

The photographic world has lost one of the good guys.

Danny, I must have been to that reception hundreds of times in the 1970s. Along with posting 10x8 hard backed envelopes through their letterbox. That was usually during the night after I had shot a gig and I was posting my photos in the hope that NME would use them. I had a route, NME,Sounds, Melody Maker etc. ‘Oh happy days’. Now I am singing that song!
