Tom Holland reveals how Americas/New Yorkers talk to each other disrespectfully unlike the Englands who are very respectful
Tom Holland: One of the things I find really difficult is a lot of Americans, New Yorkers especially, when they're ordering food, it's very different to how we order food. In England, it says, "Please may I have the burger with number two, thank you so much, please, let me thank you, thank you, thank you." And in America, it's totally fine to be like, "I'll have the number two" and just leave it at that.
Amy Poehler: Especially on the East Coast.
Tom Holland: Totally. And I would be doing scenes and my dialect coach would come in and be like, "Stop saying please."
Amy Poehler: Ooh!
Tom Holland: Like, a kid from New York's not going to say please if you're asking for a burger. So I, you can see it, there's a moment in this movie where someone asks me for a coffee and I just go, "Sure." And even through the suit, you can see like, I'm like, "My dad is going to be so disappointed in me!"
This is why being specific matters both people a right here. Bill needed to be specific and Elon needs to be in tune with the “we” Bill is talking about
Bill Maher: You're right about almost everything. I mean, "Let's have more babies and raise them on Mars" I don't get that, but okay.
Elon Musk: I think we should be cautious about civilization's decline. We have plummeting birth rates in most places.
Bill Maher: Right. And we also have plummeting resources.
Elon Musk: No, no. Resources will be fine.
Bill Maher: But they're not fine. They're not fine now.
Elon Musk: Look, I'm not suggesting complacency. We do need to move to a sustainable energy economy as quickly as possible. But we're not in any danger of resource collapse.
Bill Maher: But lots of people don't have enough food or water.
Elon Musk: Water? We're not going to run out of water. People say we're running out of sand.
Bill Maher: You can't drink the ocean.
Elon Musk: But desalination is absurdly cheap.
Bill Maher: Then why don't we do it?
Elon Musk: We do. It is being done. There's already a lot of desalination. There's plenty of water. This is not an issue. I want to be clear about that.
Imagine being the daughters of Linda and Cecil Womack, the nieces of Bobby Womack AND the granddaughters of Sam Cooke?!
The Womack Sisters got it honest and they sound amazing ✨
@FrankEngDesign @TheGasStovee I’m not leftist. Literature can still be fiction. Mythology is literally fiction in the modern sense. I’m not with any of those things. Name calling is childish. Grow up
@georgecursor Ah man…this, the lengths people are going over this is wild lmao in the modern sense mythology is absolutely considered fiction. Any scholar would agree. Tell me, how much of Homer have you read and how many variations of this story are you familiar with?
The Odyssey is a long-form poem about a myth. It has a long history of being reinterpreted by artists, directors, & translators. Orson Welles cast Eartha Kitt as Helen of Troy back in 1950. Today's critics are culturally illiterate buffoons.
