Shania Twain sold 40 MILLION copies of an album she made with her husband. In 2008, she discovered he was having an affair with her BEST FRIEND, the same woman she'd been confiding in about her marriage.

The affair was exposed by her best friend's own husband. Three years later, Shania married him.

Shania and music producer Robert "Mutt" Lange had been married since 1993. Together they made Come On Over, one of the best-selling albums in music history. They had a son and lived in Switzerland, where Shania's close friend Marie-Anne Thiébaud also worked as her personal assistant.

When Shania began noticing her husband acting strangely, she turned to Marie-Anne for advice.

"Don't you think my husband is acting strange?" she asked.

Marie-Anne reassured her that everything was fine. Shania later discovered that the woman comforting her was the same woman involved with her husband.

In 2008, Lange told Shania he wanted to end their marriage. The next day, Marie-Anne's husband, Frédéric Thiébaud, approached her with evidence of the affair. He told Shania he'd been investigating for weeks and had hotel bills.

Shania initially refused to believe him.

She was so desperate to save her marriage that she wrote a letter to Marie-Anne begging her to leave her family alone.

"Please leave us in peace. I'm begging you."

In the 2011 interview below, Shania talks about how humiliating it was to write that letter to a woman she had once trusted with everything.

But Frédéric was going through the same betrayal. The two began supporting each other, and their friendship eventually turned romantic.

Shania finalized her divorce in June 2010. On January 1, 2011, she married Frédéric in Puerto Rico.

In 2015, Andy Cohen asked what she would say if she ever came face to face with Marie-Anne again.

"I wish I'd never met you."

The woman who took Shania's husband also lost her own. And that husband became Shania's next husband.
