I was one of very few veteran energy reporters who never worked at E&E. I knew them chiefly as fierce competitors (and several as good friends). They have remained indispensable for producing top-shelf coverage and reporters. This is a sad development and worrisome larger trend.
New: Politico is folding E&E, the energy trade publication it bought in 2020.
The company says it is reorganizing its energy coverage under the Politico brand and launching a series of new state and global energy newsletters.
@AndrewDesiderio The all-important caveat of course is that Husted only did so once Cassidy voted no and provided him that political cover. That is as predictable as ever, though a somewhat interesting data point underscoring his tough reelection bid
Exactly my experience interning at Roll Call in '97. I called about something my 1st week or so there, I can't remember what, and expecting the press office. But a quick pause and click later I heard the unmistakeable "yeah?!" After I stammered out one question, I hung up
You would call Barney Frank’s office & they would just put you on the phone with him. “Hold on for Barney.”
No one else did this, it was extraordinary in the pre-cell phone days.
Then he’d yell at you, curse, lie, butter you up, spin you, tell you the truth. He was unique
@curiosityonx Rekindle just in the nick of time with my massively depressed sister, despite the fact she told me my plan to have a last glass of red wine on the terrace was shit.

Imagine if we learned today that Kamala Harris was having regular conversations with Vladimir Putin, had sent him a special Covid testing kit, falsely claimed to have visited Gaza, was repeatedly lying about the federal hurricane response, and said that the country had bad genes
For more than half a century, the major party candidates for president have sat down with 60 Minutes. This year, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump accepted our invitation. Unfortunately, last week Trump canceled. https://t.co/7t5jr5nyFJ
NEW: Two former Trump White House officials told me they had to show voter data to Trump to get him to release disaster funding to CA wildfire victims. He released it after learning that he had as many GOP supporters in Orange Co. as he did in Iowa. https://t.co/VU9fbGsOBl
Jacobs denying any wrongdoing in a statement. Wouldn't be the first or second or third time I've seen editors throw bylined writers under the bus for something that's ultimately their fault. We need more information about what happened here.
