Welcome, Michelle Montaine to RSN!
@michmontaine will join Rangers Sports Network as a supplemental field reporter alongside Laura Stickells. She will be featured in approximately 20 game broadcasts in 2026 with her RSN debut tonight vs the Royals.
On this day in 1987, Phil Niekro became the third pitcher to make 700 starts, joining Cy Young and Don Sutton.
As it stands, 8 pitchers have reached that mark in MLB history.
Justin Verlander is the active leader in games started by a pitcher at 556. To get to 700, he would need to average his career 26 game starts for another 5.5 seasons.
@Simply_Sean43 It was an awful performance tonight, as we pointed out numerous times. I never offered an excuse, Sean. I did mention the travel - but the fact that you’re interpreting it as an excuse is your prerogative. Can’t help you with that.
Tarps Off lives on.
What started as a fun day at the ballpark for a club baseball team from Texas (@SFAClubBsbl) turned into a movement that fits these young, energetic 2026 Cardinals.
Meet the people behind the idea that caught national attention, sparked viral moments, and energized a clubhouse eager to keep entertaining — simply by being themselves and having fun.

This is great. So direct and honest and accountable. The best part is his unflappable belief in what he was saying. I'll save you from having to look it up - the Tigers went 98-64 and won the AL East that year.
From a WDIV Tigers broadcast on 5/16/1987, a classic interview with the Tigers Manager, Sparky Anderson. After an 11-19 start to the season, the team and Sparky were feeling the heat from the media and the fans. Despite the struggles, Sparky felt extremely confident in his club. "I love to get them firing at me. We're going bad right now, so and see, now all guns will be firing. But I got news for them. I can accept all the firing, but I promise this will be the first time when the season comes to an end, if this club does what I think it will do, I'm gonna fire back."
The Tigers would end up winning the East Division with 98 wins and play in the 1987 ALCS.
A good reminder as this 2026 team fights through a tough start to the season.
