the semantic observer perspective presupposes that somewhere in the causal chain the simple observer determined state enters a realm decoupled from the forced report of what is true.

the basic example being "take this measure, report the result, if "a" then i kill your friend, if "b" then your friend lives. One measures, and if "a" one nevertheless reports "b".

fine. but this of course implies choice, at least in the most naive reading.

and while i find this comfortable personally, there is also a very interesting idea to explore if, in fact, we forego this naive reading and assume that this does not imply choice.

in that case we have a state, say it is "a" which is observed naively at each level in a chain which somehow, by the time it reaches the mechanics of report at the semantic level, has in each place reported honestly, still maintains the coexistent recollection of the true measurement, but simultaneously has somewhere changed the reality itself, first in the decoupling of measure from the necessity of its propogation as it was mesdured, and then in as much as what reports can no longer falsify the causal impact, but only report, and in reporting, reality accepts "b".

such a tension remains in the semantic observer even after the report, so that he is a locus of the simultineity of what is true in measure and what is true in his world line born from the report.

how far could such a tension of decoupling expand in the prereport space? if we name such a tension "mind" then one can consider such a thing being very large, being nearly the size of the universe, and at scale there is no one to receive the report and inact the consequence, and so nothing happens except the potential born in the decoupling remains forever unresolved.

further, in a purely material sense, each step in mapping from measure to report is indistinguishable from a passive non-semantic witness. for some event, then, as its effective state changes in wider and wider systems, this could be seen as decohering from its local collapse back into its uncollapsed tension-making all measurement only ever locally real. that is to say measurement is not an event; it is a decay function over interaction distance.
