Hugely appreciate if you could share with your network please?
We have always said we will not know the whole truth about Hillsborough until we know the truth about Orgreave.
Same police force.
Same tactics.
Five years earlier.
We are grateful to the Government for delivering on its manifesto promise. 🙏🏻

We welcome the government listening to the campaign, families, MPs and supporters by withdrawing their security services amendment.
We shall engage further with government to ensure the bill fully applies to the security services whilst not jeopardising national security.

Eight years ago I interviewed the woman in the most infamous photo from Orgreave. 'There's talk of a new inquiry,' she said. 'We're not going away.' Thinking of you and your fellow campaigners today, Lesley Boulton

‘The form of the Orgreave inquiry is modelled on the Hillsborough independent panel, whose 2012 report is recognised as a landmark, establishing crucial details about the disaster and overturning the false South Yorkshire police narrative that was intended to avoid responsibility and blame the victims.’
ORGREAVE INQUIRY ANNOUNCED!
At last the government have announced an inquiry will take place into Orgreave. Please see and share our press release.

David Davis spoke in Parliament just now saying the trial of Lucy Letby was a “clear miscarriage of justice”, based on “so-called” medical expert evidence that was wrong. https://t.co/xRkFZw6MCy
Bit of a weird day to be tweeting about the first installment of my new series on @MundialMag’s new site, happy to be on board. Grassroots dispatches is my way of reporting about the game we all love with the people that make it happen. Hope you enjoy!

Must-read on Britain's / Labour's stance on reparations, by @aamnamohdin:
'Many experts felt it showed deep ignorance ... It displays a gap in race and equality policymaking in No 10, which confirmed that Starmer does not have a specific race adviser.'

"Whether there are or may be issues arising from the first trial which have yet to be the subject of judicial consideration is not for us to say ...
This application will not involve any detailed analysis of the evidence ... at the first trial or the re-trial."
While the Thirlwall inquiry dismissed questions over the Lucy Letby convictions as "noise", today the Court of Appeal judges acknowledged (para 6) the media has reported "a critique of the medical and scientific evidence called at the first trial."

The judges say: "Some of the public comment has called into question whether Letby ought to have been convicted in August 2023."
They make clear today's appeal couldn't consider those questions, and envisage that they may at some point be looked at by a court.
