We celebrated our 100th Treasure Tree, a majestic silver maple, located in the back parking lot at Davidson United Methodist. Stop by and say hi to #100. The Treasure Tree program is supported through the generosity of @Trane_Tech 🌳 https://t.co/FzTt9rZLt1
Urban trees are the best defense against heat waves in cities. By planting trees strategically across urban areas, the air can be cooled by up to 10 degrees 🌡☀️
As our climate continues to change, #ATreeCanBe an answer, one that helps cities become more resilient.
Did you know that trees are basically nature's superheroes when it comes to cleaning the air? They're like the Avengers of the plant world, but instead of fighting aliens, they're battling pollution. Trees absorb all sorts of nasty stuff like carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen oxides, and then they release the good stuff - oxygen! So next time you're out for a walk in the park, give a high-five to the nearest tree. They're working hard to keep our air fresh and clean, one leaf at a time!

DLC teaches the value of conservation through a variety of methods. One of those is courses offered by Davidson Learns. This past weekend, Dave Cable concluded his course, Creative Approaches to Conservation, by taking his class on a trip to the Redlair Preserve in Gaston County
A fantastic group from CSD removed invasive species, controlled trail erosion, refreshed outdoor classrooms and rebuilt a portion of an important bridge with us. Scroll to the last photo to see a pair of thankful fans of the improved bridge. A huge thank you to all involved!

The vast majority of our conservation work is done by caring, committed volunteers. Last week a group of teachers from CSD came out to help us at Fisher Farm Park. We cannot thank them enough! If you have a group looking for a worthwhile project, email [email protected].
This tulip poplar was planted 3 years ago at our fall community tree planting. It looks happy in its forever home! 🌳
