Coming back home to Ndaragwa today brought a wave of nostalgia and filled my heart with immense gratitude.
The opportunity to join hands with my colleague CS @davis_chirchir for @TransportKE to check on the progress of the historic Ndaragwa-Kanyagia-Subuku and Maili Kumi-Subuku-Shamata road links was deeply personal for me.
Growing up here, these roads were a distant dream~ today we are rewriting history. This is the most significant development milestone our Kihara village has witnessed since independence—and we remain deeply grateful for this progress.
Thank you, His Excellency President @WilliamsRuto for changing the narrative; Ndaragwa and Nyandarua County remains deeply indebted.

Today was another clear demonstration that the Kenya Kwanza Government is delivering on its promise to connect, transform and grow our Nation through infrastructure.
Together with my colleague CS @rebecca_miano and PS @Roads_KE Eng. Joseph Mbugua, launched the upgrading to bitumen standard of the 23km Kwa Haraka–Kageraini–Rwanyambo–Karangatha–Kinamba Road and the 37km Ithagani–Ngorika–Mbaruk/Kanyiriri Road in Nyandarua County.
These projects will unlock markets for our farmers, improve road safety, enhance access to schools, health facilities and government services, while creating jobs and driving economic growth.
We also inspected the progress of the historic Ndaragwa–Kanyagia–Subuku and Maili Kumi–Subuku–Shamata roads to ensure every commitment translates into visible progress on the ground.
Productive discussions with Nairobi County Governor @SakajaJohnson today on the urgent need to modernize road infrastructure in our capital city.
Through close collaboration between the National Government and Nairobi County, we are developing a strategic framework to upgrade key road networks and transform Nairobi into a more accessible, efficient, and modern city that reflects its growing status.
Today, I witnessed the signing of the contract for the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) Modernization Project, a major National Infrastructure Investment. The contract was signed on behalf of the Government by the Principal Secretary for Aviation and Aerospace Development, Ms. Teresia Mbaika, and Mr. Yu Xiaodong, General Manager of China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC).
The JKIA Modernization Project is a strategic undertaking aimed at expanding airport capacity, enhancing safety, improving passenger and cargo services, and strengthening Kenya’s position as a leading regional aviation hub.
The project scope includes the construction of a new terminal building and associated support facilities, the modernization and upgrading of existing infrastructure, the improvement of airside and landside operations, and the enhancement of overall operational efficiency and service delivery.
The procurement process has been ongoing over the past three months following the completion of the JKIA Master Plan in February 2026. More than 40 companies participated in the pre-bid conference held in April 2026, which clarified the project expectations and scope of work. The process was conducted in full compliance with applicable procurement laws and regulatory requirements, with all submissions evaluated on technical and financial merit.
As a Ministry, we remain firmly committed to transparency, accountability, and strict adherence to all required standards as we deliver world-class aviation infrastructure that will position JKIA as a premier gateway to Africa and drive Kenya’s economic growth and competitiveness.
I was joined by the Managing Director of the @KenyaAirports, Eng. Moses Wekesa, legal representatives from the Ministry and CRBC, as well as senior officials from the Ministry, CRBC, and KAA.
We have concluded our three-day tour of Wajir and Garissa counties, reaffirming our commitment to ending the historical marginalisation of Northern Kenya through sustained investment in development programmes and infrastructure.
We thank the people of Wajir and Garissa for their warm hospitality, support, and engagement throughout the tour. Together, we will continue working to unlock the immense potential of Northern Kenya and ensure that no region is left behind in our country's transformation journey.
Inspected progress on the 257km Lamu-Ijara-Garissa Road, part of the 453km LAPSSET Corridor Development Project.
The KSh17.9 billion project is scheduled for completion early next year and will provide an alternative transport corridor, support regional integration, improve security, and provide an evacuation route at Lamu Port.
The project will ease the movement of people and goods, lower transport costs, expand market access and boost cross-border trade, particularly in the livestock sector which is a key economic pillar in the region.
More than 11 contractors have been engaged in various sections of the expansive corridor to ensure the project is delivered within the set timeframe.
Inspected construction progress of the 64km Tarbaj-Kotulo stretch of the Isiolo-Mandera road, Tarbaj Constituency, Wajir County.
The strategic corridor traverses Isiolo, Meru, Garissa, Wajir and Mandera counties, significantly improving connectivity within Northern Kenya and linking Kenya to neighbouring Ethiopia and Somalia.
To unlock the region's vast economic potential, the Government is building the 750km Horn of Africa Gateway Development Project from Isiolo to Mandera through Wajir at a cost of KSh100 billion.
Enhanced security in Northern Kenya has created a secure environment for residents to engage in worthwhile economic activities, laying the foundation for accelerated economic growth and investment.
Also inspected the progress of the upgrading of 7.5km of roads within Habaswein Town, a KSh557 million project that will enhance mobility, facilitate trade, and improve access to essential services for residents and businesses alike.
We are ending decades of marginalisation by implementing development projects fairly across Kenya. Our goal is to build a nation that every Kenyan is proud to call home.
We have abolished the discriminatory extra vetting process that for many years denied residents of Northern Kenya access to National Identity Cards, effectively locking them out of Government services and opportunities.
To strengthen education in the region, we introduced an affirmative action programme to recruit 100 teachers in every constituency across Northern Kenya. This will increase the number of local teachers and ensure uninterrupted learning.
Inspected ongoing tarmacking of roads within Griftu town, Wajir West Constituency, which we are upgrading at a cost of KSh1 billiion.
Addressed residents of Griftu town ahead of this year's Madaraka Day celebrations, the first ever to be held in Wajir County and the entire Northern Kenya.
These transformative road projects will strengthen connectivity, improve the movement of people and goods, unlock business opportunities, and accelerate economic growth across the region.
Together with Wajir Governor H.E. Ahmed Abdullahi Mohamed, the PS @Roads_KE Eng. Joseph Mbugua and DG @KURAroads Eng. @MuriraKinoti conducted an inspection tour of infrastructure development and preparedness across Wajir town ahead of this year’s Madaraka Day celebrations.
The inspection covered roads, drainage systems, stadium access routes, and critical infrastructure works to ensure Wajir is fully prepared to host a historic national event. The progress on the ground is clear proof that no part of Kenya is being left behind.
The upgraded airport will feature a modern passenger terminal, taxiways, a 1.5KM runway, and world-class aviation infrastructure, positioning the Maasai Mara as a premier global tourism destination and opening up the Maa region to greater economic opportunities.
Today, we signed the Intergovernmental Partnership Agreement between the National Government and the County Government of Narok to upgrade the Maasai Mara Airport. This transformative project will unlock tourism, trade, investment, jobs, and regional connectivity.
