Founded by @Jkhashoggi in 2018, DAWN works to reform U.S. FP in the ME, hold abusers accountable & magnify the voices of experts/activists from the region.
1/ BREAKING: Today, DAWN filed a federal lawsuit challenging the Trump administration's ICC sanctions, arguing they violate Americans' First Amendment rights by criminalizing constitutionally protected advocacy on Palestine. https://t.co/PJE2XlMgl0
Some European leaders tell @KZiabari that the European Union should stake out a stronger position on the U.S./Israel war on Iran. Yet the continent lags behind, forfeiting moral authority in the process.

Senator @ChrisVanHollen with moral clarity and @FranceskAlbs reminding us that: The UN was not created to bring us to heaven but to save us from hell.
Proud of my friend @ASE alongside Dr. @Tanyaalih both honored as Defenders of Justice here by @DAWNmenaorg.
After the 8th anniversary of Saudi Arabia's killing of @DAWNmenaorg founder Jamal Khashoggi, Maggie Mitchell Salem and @OmarSShakir ask if the U.S. remains a safe haven for political exiles. For them, the track record suggests it does not. https://t.co/qgYkvUIGXC
"Governments should adopt clear rules prohibiting their businesses and citizens from engaging in settlement-linked activity. Enforcement must be strong and serious," writes @mFarshneshani in @DAWN_Journal.

Rights advocates gathered today on Jamal Khashoggi Way, outside the Saudi Embassy in DC — 8 years after DAWN founder Jamal Khashoggi’s murder by agents of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman — to remember Jamal's life, his courage, and the voice his killers could not silence.
"It can be difficult to have hope for the kingdom today, which is why we need to continue to organize and build power," says longtime human rights activist @OmarShakir, Executive Director at @DAWNmenaorg.
8 years ago, MBS approved an op that killed & dismembered dissident & Wash Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi. But they didn't kill his vision—which lives on in the org he founded: @DAWNmenaorg. Jamal's friend Maggie Salem & I remember Jamal in DAWN's journal https://t.co/bMcGWszUvi
Today's the 8th anniversary of the brutal slaying of Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, ordered by Saudi Prince Mohammed bin Salman. We cannot trust Saudi leaders, yet Trump wants to allow them to enrich uranium that could be used for nuclear bombs. Stop the deal.
Eight years ago today, the Saudi government directed the brutal murder of Jamal Khashoggi, a Virginia resident and journalist dedicated to shining a light on the truth. As we honor his memory, we must remember his courage, continue to fight for accountability for those behind his murder, and recommit ourselves to defending the freedom of the press around the world.
Eight years since the Saudi Crown Prince, Mohammed bin Salman, ordered the brutal torture and murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi, and no one in the Saudi government has been held accountable.
(We may even help them with a nuclear program.)
At a time when freedom of the press is under threat both at home and abroad, I won't stop demanding justice for Khashoggi's murder and protection of the press.
Eight years ago, Jamal Khashoggi was murdered by agents of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for reporting the truth.
Today, we remember his life, his courage, and his voice that continues to carry on. We continue to fight for a press free from oppression and persecution—here and abroad.
"They killed Jamal, but they did not silence him."

As Sudan's civil war continues in its fourth year, American complicity has allowed the United Arab Emirates to perpetuate the conflict, constituting a form of sub-imperialism. Washington can and should reject this path, writes @husamom.

Today, on the eighth anniversary of the killing of DAWN’s founder, Jamal Khashoggi, DAWN is calling on Congress to pass three pending resolutions blocking arms sales and a nuclear cooperation agreement with Saudi Arabia.
On October 2, 2018, a Saudi hit team murdered and dismembered Jamal Khashoggi inside the kingdom's consulate in Istanbul, in an operation the U.S. intelligence community concluded was "approved" by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Not only has Bin Salman not been charged for killing Khashoggi or sanctioned for ongoing repression, but Trump, when asked in November 2025 about the murder with the Crown Prince at his side, said "things happen."
Trump's stance "underscores ongoing deep U.S. complicity in repression in Saudi Arabia and across the region," said DAWN's @OmarSShakir.

Europe remains on the sidelines of the U.S./Israel war on Iran. As a result, the EU and its members have lost moral authority in yet another defining issue of our time. Yet some European leaders still demand action, writes @KZiabari.
