BMIG Bulletin Volume 35 (2023) has just been published online. Articles include the pygmy woodlouse Hyloniscus riparius & flat-back millipede Polydesmus taranus new to UK; and ecological studies on the rare pill-millipede Trachysphaera lobata. https://t.co/kqLjkPUoz3
Pleased to present Nearctomeris smoky, a new species of pill millipede from the Great Smoky Mountains. This paper was led by my fabulous postdoc Ernesto Recuero (proving, for better or worse, that it's not ALL beetles all the time in the Caterino Lab!)

In the pauropod world, the Eurypauropodidae are the Ferraris: the head-turning hot shots that everyone envies. And this paper has three of them, including two new species from China! https://t.co/waipMEQeSn Check them out! @ZooKeys_Journal
Two new pillipede species from Laos! Both in the genus Hyperglomeris, this study incorporates genetic data. CO1 still isn't enough to sort out questions of relatedness among genera in the Glomeridae. https://t.co/bP00CqAaHn @ZooKeys_Journal
If you've ever wanted to learn more about the post-embryonic development of stone centipedes, you're in luck! A very thorough paper on the development of Lithobius melanops by colleagues in Serbia https://t.co/Hkd6yuJW68
A new study presents an overview of the lithobiomorph #centipede species found across 160 localities in Slovenian #caves. 319 occurrence records are published for the first time: https://t.co/oaNvadhB3X

@JohnHaubenreich I love Frozen Head State Park! This would be Narceus americanus/annularis complex, one of our largest millipedes in the eastern US. Very cool find!

Lots of cool critters around deadwood on the Reading Uni campus with @BugBoyDawid today. Best were my first Neelid springtails - Neelus murinus and Megalothorax minimus, the latter only 0.3mm long! Also lots of pauropods and other funky Myriapods like Strigamia crassipes (pic 4)
Even when you're a powerful predator like a centipede, you can't let you guard down. Some ants specifically prey on centipedes! In the eastern US, we have a few species of Stigmatomma which do this.
