I took the age-old writing advice and began a newsletter for an audience of one exactly 1 year + 1 day ago. I invented awards, broke down publishing, made up literary terms, found excuses to talk about film, and read a shit ton of books along the way. https://t.co/WX5V7ZO2bs
One small datapoint of why the Trump years were so awful is that many writers just set their "contemporary" novels in 2015 as to avoid dealing with all of the shit you'd have to work around if you set it during his presidency (he's akin to the Pandemic in that way)
@TheLincoln Very true, although it does seem like it could have been overdone now that we’re here, this election feels different (more disinterest)than the last one where every ounce of attention was vacuumed up, but these decisions were likely made many months ago based on the last election
Yellowstone, Beyonce and Post Malone making country albums, Taylor Swift's outfit last night, "the west" is clearly back in fashion, but that doesn't mean westerns or country ballads are coming back anytime soon:

@jeansand2011 But this is what drives me a little crazy, you actually have to do it not just say it calmly. We need a media outlet that’s 24/7 replaying Trump’s weird stuff and hammering on it and making his photos with Epstein a headline news item everyday-playing chess when we need checkers
@TheLincoln What’s funny is King talks about this in On Writing, being a kid and trying to copy his favorite writers.Millions of people have had this same fantasy, writing fiction or AI writing fiction isn’t really as simple as “read and copy someone’s style” that’s probably why AI is so bad
