Three days from now, the Americas come together in Asunción for a forum built around a simple but urgent premise: democratic renewal is not theoretical, it is lived, practiced, and shaped by the people who show up to do the work. The GDC Americas Forum 2026, co‑hosted with our Coalition Partner @AlmaCivica, arrives at a moment when the region is navigating profound democratic pressures while also generating some of the most compelling civic innovations anywhere in the world.
This year’s Forum is intentionally designed as a dynamic space. Day 1 opens in hybrid format, inviting participants across the hemisphere into a shared regional narrative, one that acknowledges democratic stress but refuses to be defined by it. The conversations move across legitimacy, participation, civic space, disinformation, and the shifting social dynamics that are reshaping how democracy is experienced in everyday life. Yet the day also highlights the counter‑currents: youth leadership, feminist organizing, territorial governance, civic tech, and the creative practices that are rebuilding trust from the ground up.
Day 2 shifts fully in‑person and fully into action. Through thematic labs, participants will prototype solutions, map alliances, and define concrete steps the region can take over the next months. It is a day built for doing, not just discussing, and it reflects the Forum’s commitment to turning insight into momentum.
The accompanying graphics showcase the speakers and sessions that will anchor these two days, an extraordinary group of thinkers, organizers, researchers, and community leaders whose work is shaping democratic futures across the Americas.
The Forum is more than a gathering. It is a regional contribution to a global democratic agenda, a moment to align across borders, and an invitation to imagine what renewal looks like when it begins with the people living its challenges and possibilities every day.
