This podcast was one of the most meaningful and thoughtful podcast I’ve ever done. It doesn’t hurt that the host is a kindred spirit. https://t.co/aTK7l4EixC

This new legislation creates a clearer path to employment for returning citizens by removing barriers to professional licensing. At #FRRC, we believe in second chances—and in policy that reflects the dignity and potential of every person impacted by the justice system. This bipartisan win represents progress for jobs, justice, and stronger communities across Florida.

#SB472 removes barriers to professional licensing for returning citizens—a win for jobs, justice, and opportunity. Our commitment to leaning straight into issues that impact our members, alongside invaluable leaders, helped pave the way for this bipartisan victory.

ICYMI: Congratulations to @flrightsrestore for its tireless advocacy to pass employment bill SB 472. ASJ is proud to support this bill and be in partnership with the Florida Rights Restoration Coalition. Let's continue to increase #publicsafety.
Big step forward for second chances in Florida. The Legislature has passed a bill (CS/SB 472) that allows education in correctional facilities to count toward licensed professions.
This means people preparing for re-entry can earn real credits and skills that help them work, thrive, and support their families.
🚨Today we celebrate a true pillar of this movement. Our Deputy Director, Neil Volz, is stepping into a new chapter as Executive Director of the Alliance for The Arts in Southwest Florida.
Since 2015, Neil has been a pivotal part of FRRC’s journey—from passing Amendment 4 to advancing clemency and second chances across Florida. His leadership, heart, and unwavering belief in people helped shape this movement into what it is today. Read his powerful farewell letter. Thank you, Neil.
Once FRRC family, always FRRC family. ❤️ #FRRCFamily
I applaud President Biden’s decision to commute the sentences of people who are now able to move forward in their lives. Second chances exemplify our shared values and tangibly help to improve the lives of individuals, families, and communities throughout our country. #SecondChances
Today, I'm commuting the sentences of nearly 2,500 people convicted of non-violent drug offenses.
This is an important step toward righting historic wrongs and providing deserving individuals the opportunity to return to their communities after far too much time behind bars.
FRRC Executive Director @desmondmeade: It's time to have an earnest conversation about our justice system and its impact on democracy, the economy, and public safety.
If someone with a felony conviction can aspire to lead the nation, why can’t millions achieve proper restoration?

This past Friday, Miami-Dade County made history. A street was named in honor of Dr. @desmondmeade, and with a heartfelt surprise, December 6, 2024, was officially declared Desmond Meade Day. 🎉
This moment is more than a name on a sign or a calendar—it’s a testament to how hope and resilience can transform lives. It’s a celebration of possibility, of change, and of giving flowers while people can still see them.
Thank you to the supporters, local officials, and influencers who came together to honor this moment. Your presence made it all the more special, showing that when we unite, anything is possible.
