Figured out what I like (and don't like) about Twitter - now reincarnated. Here to talk movies, music, MLB/NFL/Boxing, sports betting, chess, bridge, Go, LSAT, Magic.
@slarjy @doncatt Something like make a top honor in one of the minors the JT of spades, for instance (and take away a minor suit x), and the hand has just as much offense, but less defense.
@slarjy @doncatt Partner will have 5 or more hearts 19% of the time. 62% of the time, it's a 4-3 split; half of the remaining 38%, it's LHO who was the long hearts.
@doncatt @slarjy@ACBLbridge One thing we haven't discussed is the form of scoring. At matchpoints, picking up 500 instead of 620 can be very bad, but the risk/reward is better here at IMPS, where we might get something like 200 or 500 instead of a minus score when 4S doesn't make.
@doncatt @ActSysTraining@ACBLbridge I was asked about a 3โค๏ธ bid. The point about Leaping Michaels is that whether or not you play it is related to what (2โค๏ธ) - 3โค๏ธ means. If you play Leaping Michaels, then (2โค๏ธ) - 3โค๏ธ isn't Michaels (at least, it shouldn't be).
@slarjy @doncatt @ACBLbridge Partner with the long hearts should know whether to defend (with good hearts) or compete (with bad ones that can just be ruffed).
@slarjy @doncatt @ACBLbridge If there is a double fit on a slam ha d, it's probably best fir the Trump suit to be a minor, for the same reason you want the 4-4 to be trump when you have a 4-4 and a 5-3. Opposite a doubleton spade, you may have unavoidable losers if spades are trump, but ruffing 1 โ ๏ธ (1/2)
