Katsina Tree Planting Initiative
Today, we took an important step towards building a greener and more sustainable Katsina State with the launch of the Katsina-One-Tree Initiative (KT1T) in Rimi Local Government Area.
Our target is to plant and nurture 11 million trees by 2030, beginning with two million trees in 2026, under the message: One Person, One Tree, One Responsibility.
For us, success goes beyond distributing seedlings; it means ensuring that every tree planted survives and matures. I therefore call on our citizens to take ownership of this initiative by planting, watering, protecting, and nurturing trees in their communities.
Environmental protection is fundamental to agriculture, food security, and economic prosperity. Through this initiative, we aim to combat desertification, restore degraded lands, strengthen our resilience to climate change, and protect the livelihoods of our people.
I have directed schools, healthcare facilities, government institutions, and local government councils to actively participate in this campaign. I also urge our traditional and religious leaders, farmers, women, youths, and development partners to join hands with us in achieving this shared goal.
Working together, we will fulfil our responsibility to protect our environment and leave future generations a greener, healthier, and more sustainable Katsina State.
Creating Awareness, Saving Lives
Breast cancer awareness is not just about educating our people; it is about saving lives, encouraging early detection, and ensuring that every woman has access to the care and support she deserves.
At the 2026 Breast Cancer Awareness Walk in Katsina, I joined my wife, to call on women across our state to embrace regular breast cancer screening and seek prompt medical attention whenever they notice unusual changes. Fear, stigma, and misinformation should never prevent anyone from taking steps to protect their health. Early detection significantly improves the chances of successful treatment and recovery.
Our administration remains committed to strengthening healthcare delivery in Katsina State, including plans to develop an imaging centre with a dedicated cancer unit and introduce specialised medical equipment to improve diagnosis and treatment. We will also continue to collaborate with partners to strengthen the capacity of our healthcare professionals.
I commend my wife, Hajiya Fatima Dikko Radda, and the Pledging Aid Charity Foundation (PAC-F) for their sustained commitment to women’s health, as well as Revive Belgium for its partnership in supporting screening, treatment, and capacity building for our medical personnel.
I urge families, community leaders, religious institutions, and all stakeholders to join us in promoting awareness, encouraging regular screening, and supporting women affected by cancer.
Let us work together so we can break the silence, overcome stigma, and build a healthier Katsina where every woman has the opportunity to live a healthier and longer life.
Renewed Hope Food Outreach Scheme
The welfare of our people remains at the heart of our commitment to governance. While we continue to invest in sustainable development, we recognise the importance of providing immediate support to vulnerable families facing economic hardship.
My wife and I were honoured to receive the Renewed Hope Initiative’s Food Outreach Scheme in Katsina State, an intervention led by Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to support vulnerable households. I urged beneficiaries to use the food items to feed their families rather than sell them, as the initiative is intended to provide relief, restore hope and uphold the dignity of those in need.
Our Building Your Future Agenda complements these humanitarian efforts with sustained investments in education, agriculture, healthcare and security to improve livelihoods and create lasting opportunities for our people.
I commend the First Lady of Katsina State, Hajiya Zulaihat Dikko Radda, for her commitment to social welfare, and sincerely appreciate Senator Oluremi Tinubu and all partners whose generosity has made this intervention possible.
We remain committed to strengthening partnerships and expanding social protection programmes to ensure that vulnerable citizens receive the support they need while building a more prosperous and inclusive Katsina State.
Inauguration of the Tinubu/Dikko 2027 Campaign Council
Today marks a significant moment in my political journey and our collective commitment to the future of Katsina State and Nigeria, as we inaugurate the Tinubu/Dikko 2027 Campaign Council. This occasion represents not only the beginning of our preparations for the 2027 general elections but also an opportunity to strengthen our unity, renew our commitment to public service and consolidate the progress we have made together.
As we embark on this journey, I urge our party leaders, elected officials, political appointees, candidates and supporters to prioritise unity, reconciliation and grassroots engagement. Our strength lies in our ability to resolve differences, accommodate one another and place collective interests above personal ambitions. We must return to our communities with humility, reconnect with our people and never take their trust and support for granted.
Our campaign must be built on our record of achievements and commitment to fulfilling our promises. As highlighted by our Campaign Director-General, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, our administration has delivered over 70% of the promises made during consultations across the 361 wards of Katsina State. We must continue to communicate our achievements honestly while remaining committed to addressing the needs and aspirations of our people.
I also appreciate the continued support and cooperation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Federal Government in advancing the development of Katsina State. As we prepare for campaign activities commencing on October 28, 2026, I call on all APC stakeholders to strengthen our structures at the polling-unit, ward and local government levels through inclusive participation, effective coordination and sustained grassroots mobilisation.
Let us move forward with unity, humility and a shared sense of responsibility, keeping the interests of our people at the centre of our political engagements.
May Allah guide our efforts and grant us success.

Years Later, Students’ Scholarship Has Been Reviewed By 100%
Investing in education is one of the most important investments in the future of our people. It empowers individuals, strengthens families, drives economic growth and prepares our young people to become productive citizens. This is why my administration continues to prioritise education and expand opportunities for students across Katsina State.
The implementation of 100% increase in bursary allowances, following 18 years of stagnant rates, demonstrates our commitment to easing the financial burden on students and their parents. The disbursement of ₦689.79 million to 19,318 verified students across 97 institutions for the 2025/2026 academic session is a significant step towards ensuring that financial challenges do not hinder academic progress.
Beyond the general bursary increase, we have approved special increases for Veterinary Medicine students, awarded ₦500,000 each to 56 Katsina indigenes at the Nigerian Law School, and continued supporting 118 students pursuing specialised courses abroad.
We have also introduced a new scholarship scheme for 1,700 outstanding students from the 34 local government areas to study critical disciplines, including Nursing, Engineering, ICT, Agriculture and Education. With these interventions, our administration’s total bursary payments and student awards have exceeded ₦3.29 billion.
I also commend the Katsina State Scholarship Board for strengthening transparency and accountability, including the recovery and return of ₦86 million in unclaimed bursary funds to the state treasury.
I urge our students to remain focused, disciplined and committed to academic excellence. Our goal is to build an education system that rewards merit, promotes equal opportunities and equips our young people with the knowledge and skills to contribute meaningfully to the development of Katsina State and Nigeria.
We will continue to invest in education because the future of Katsina State depends on the opportunities we create for our young people today.
Reconstruction of Bindawa-Dallaje-Doro-Giremawa-Duwan Junction Road
Yesterday, we flagged off the reconstruction of the 38-kilometre Bindawa–Dallaje–Doro–Giremawa–Duwan Junction Road, covering Bindawa and Mani Local Government Areas.
This project reflects our commitment under the Building Your Future Agenda to improving rural connectivity, facilitating agricultural activities, enhancing access to markets and essential services, and stimulating economic growth in our communities.
I have charged the contractor, Mothercat Construction Company, to deliver quality work within the stipulated 10 months, while urging our communities to support the successful and timely completion of the project.
We will continue to invest in critical infrastructure that connects communities, creates opportunities and improves the lives of our people.
I appreciate our traditional rulers, community leaders and other stakeholders for their support and confidence in our development agenda.
Katsina State emerges No. 1 in Nigeria in the 2026 Subnational Climate Governance Performance Rating and Ranking (SCGPRR 3.0)
This milestone is a testament to the collective efforts of our Climate Change Secretariat, Ministries, Departments and Agencies, Local Governments, development partners, technical institutions, civil society organisations, traditional institutions, communities and citizens who continue to contribute to our climate action agenda.
We are particularly encouraged that the Katsina Green Growth Agenda (KAGGA) and the Katsina State Climate Change Policy and Plan of Action 2025–2030 are translating our commitment into stronger institutions, better planning and practical interventions across agriculture, water, energy, afforestation, land restoration and resilient infrastructure.
I commend the Society for Planet and Prosperity (SPP), the Federal Ministry of Environment and all partners involved in the assessment for recognising the progress being made in Katsina.
This achievement is not the destination. It strengthens our resolve to deepen implementation, mobilise more climate finance, attract green investment and ensure that climate action delivers tangible benefits to our people.
I congratulate the entire Katsina Climate Governance team on this important milestone.
FAAC Allocation: Our Development Priorities in Katsina
Today in Abuja, I had the opportunity to participate as a panelist at the launch of the World Bank’s Nigeria Development Update, themed: “Beyond the Federal Purse: How Higher Revenues Reshaped State Priorities.”
I shared the Katsina experience, particularly how improved domestic revenue mobilisation and increased federal allocations are enabling us to invest more strategically in the priorities that directly affect our people.
When we assumed office in 2023, Katsina State was generating about ₦600 million monthly in Internally Generated Revenue (IGR). Today, that figure has risen to over ₦3 billion monthly.
This growth is not an end in itself. What matters is how we deploy these resources to improve the lives of our citizens.
In healthcare, we have reconstructed and equipped over 270 Primary Healthcare Centres, established an ambulance service with 15 advanced ambulances, upgraded six Comprehensive Health Centres to General Hospitals, established an Advanced Dialysis Centre and Imaging and Cancer Centre, and recruited over 2,000 healthcare professionals.
In education, we have constructed over 170 new schools, renovated more than 500 schools, built three model schools, recruited over 8,000 teachers, and trained more than 25,000 teachers.
In agriculture, Katsina has embarked on an extensive mechanisation programme, deploying over 400 modern tractors alongside thousands of other agricultural equipment. We have also trained and supported over 1,000 young people in agribusiness, distributed over 20,000 tonnes of fertiliser annually, and provided thousands of irrigation equipment to farmers.
We have equally remained focused on prudent financial management. While increasing our internally generated revenue, we have reduced the State’s domestic debt from ₦62 billion in 2022 to ₦14 billion in 2025.
Beyond these figures, we are seeing progress in areas that matter deeply to families: malnutrition has reduced by 10%, while the number of out-of-school children has declined from over 500,000 to about 200,000. We have also fully implemented Local Government financial autonomy.
The progress we are making in Katsina is anchored on a simple principle: every additional naira available to government must translate into measurable value for our people.
I remain committed to building a stronger, more financially sustainable and resilient Katsina State, one where improved revenues, responsible financial management and effective public investment create better opportunities and a brighter future for our citizens.
I appreciate the World Bank for the opportunity to share Katsina’s experience and engage with other stakeholders on practical approaches to strengthening the capacity of our states to deliver development.
I equally appreciate the other panelists especially the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of Economy, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele for their insights.
Commissioning of 500,000-litre Water Supply Project in Matazu LG
Today in Matazu, we renewed our commitment to a simple but fundamental promise of ensuring that our people have access to clean, safe, reliable and sustainable water.
I was pleased to commission the rehabilitated and upgraded Matazu Water Supply Scheme, an important public asset that has served the people of Matazu since 1996.
Through this intervention, the scheme now has 17 boreholes, 13 rehabilitated and four newly constructed, a 350,000-litre ground storage tank, a 150,000-litre overhead tank, and a solar-powered inverter system to support reliable and sustainable water production and distribution.
For us, this is more than infrastructure. It is about bringing water closer to homes, schools, healthcare facilities, markets and businesses; improving hygiene and public health; supporting livelihoods; and restoring dignity to our people.
Across Katsina State, more than 1,300 communities have benefited from various water supply interventions under our administration. We are rehabilitating existing schemes, restoring non-functional facilities, constructing new ones, expanding production and storage capacity, improving distribution networks and rehabilitating dams.
We are also working with our development partners, particularly through the World Bank-supported SURWASH and SPIN programmes, while the ongoing Zobe Water Supply Project Phase 1B is set to improve water supply across Dutsin-Ma, Kurfi, Charanchi, Kankia, Batagarawa, Katsina, Rimi and Safana Local Government Areas.
Our commitment is to ensure that more people across Katsina State have access to safe, reliable, affordable and sustainable water.
However, government investment can only remain sustainable when communities take ownership. I therefore urge the people of Matazu and the Water Users Association to protect this facility, prevent vandalism, report faults promptly and work closely with STOWASSA to ensure its proper maintenance and continued service.
I appreciate the Ministry of Water Resources, STOWASSA, our engineers, contractors, consultants, technical teams, traditional institutions, community leaders and the people of Matazu for their contributions to this important project.
Today, we have not simply commissioned a water scheme; we have restored and strengthened an important public asset for the benefit of present and future generations.
May this project bring lasting benefits to the people of Matazu and neighbouring communities.
May Almighty Allah continue to bless Matazu, Katsina State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Leveraging the Future of Urbanization and Sustainable Development
Yesterday in Katsina, we marked an important milestone in our efforts to improve connectivity, mobility and the quality of urban infrastructure across the State.
I was honoured to welcome the Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima, GCON, to Katsina for the commissioning of three major road projects and the launch of modern and sustainable public transportation services.
We commissioned the approximately 4.8km Water Board–Kofar Sauri–Central Mosque Roundabout Road, the 2.4km CPS–Kofar Kaura Underpass Road and the approximately 4km Filin Polo–Ring Road Single Carriageway. These projects form part of our broader Urban Renewal Programme, designed to improve traffic circulation, reduce travel time and strengthen connectivity across Katsina metropolis.
Our approach is to develop an integrated road network rather than isolated projects. This is why we are extending similar infrastructure interventions to Daura and Funtua, while continuing to improve rural road connectivity across the State. So far, more than 240 kilometres of urban and rural roads have been covered through our ongoing interventions.
We also launched 32 hybrid buses incorporating electric, diesel and CNG technologies for deployment across Katsina, Daura and Funtua. The buses are supported by terminals and maintenance facilities, while 40 modern bus stops equipped with Wi-Fi and solar inverter systems are being provided to improve the passenger experience.
In addition, we launched 200 electric tricycles as part of our broader programme to deploy 500 electric Keke EVs across Katsina State. Beyond transportation, this initiative presents opportunities for technical training, vehicle maintenance, charging infrastructure, employment and the growth of businesses within the emerging electric mobility ecosystem.
Our objective is to connect our communities, make movement easier, support commerce and agriculture, improve access to schools and healthcare, and create an environment in which businesses and productive activities can thrive.
This is the thinking behind our approach of “From Energy Transition to Economic Transformation.” We are not only introducing new transportation technologies; we are working towards a modern transportation ecosystem that creates economic opportunities while improving mobility.
I appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the continued support of the Federal Government, and I sincerely thank Vice-President Kashim Shettima for honouring our invitation and joining us for this important occasion.
I also commend our contractors, consultants, Ministries, Departments and Agencies, members of the State Executive Council and Legislature, and, most importantly, the people of Katsina State for their patience and cooperation throughout the execution of these projects.
Our responsibility does not end with commissioning. We must ensure that these facilities are properly maintained, efficiently managed and responsibly utilised for the benefit of the people.
We will continue to invest in infrastructure and public services that improve connectivity, mobility and economic opportunity across Katsina State.
May Almighty Allah continue to guide us and bless Katsina State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Thank you, Katsina.
Welcoming New APC Members, strengthening our party ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
I am deeply grateful to the Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima, (@officialSKSM ), GCON, for his visit to Katsina State and for his encouraging words about our administration and the progress we are making together.
His words, “We are proud of what you are doing here,” are a great honour and a renewed responsibility to continue serving our people with humility, courage, and dedication.
I warmly welcome the thousands of new members who have joined the APC from various political parties. Your decision is a strong demonstration of growing confidence in our leadership, our party and the direction of Katsina State.
I also welcome the renewed commitment of our political leaders and stakeholders, including my brother, Dr Mustapha Inuwa. This is a time to put aside our differences, unite under one platform and work together for the progress of our State.
We will continue to consolidate our achievements, support the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and build a stronger and more peaceful Katsina.
I remain grateful to the people of Katsina for their trust and support. We will continue to serve you with sincerity, accountability and an unwavering commitment to development.
Empowering Women is Empowering the Society. When we empower a woman, we strengthen a family; when we strengthen families, we build stronger communities; and when our communities prosper, Katsina prospers.
Today in Katsina, we had the privilege of welcoming the Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, @KashimSM, GCON, for the flag-off of the Community Investment Fund under the Nigeria for Women Programme Scale-Up (NFWP-SU).
More than 40,000 women across Katsina State are set to benefit from this intervention, providing them with access to capital to expand their businesses, strengthen household incomes and build sustainable livelihoods.
For us, this is more than a financial intervention. It is an investment in the strength of our families, the resilience of our communities and the economic future of Katsina State.
I deeply appreciate the Federal Government, the World Bank and our development partners for their continued support. Katsina State has demonstrated strong ownership of the programme by committing N4 billion, which has enabled the expansion of NFWP-SU from six Local Government Areas to all 34 LGAs.
I have also appealed for additional funding and technical support so that we can reach even more women, particularly those in underserved communities.
I am especially encouraged by the participation of women with hearing impairment who have formed their own Women Affinity Groups. Their inclusion reflects our commitment to ensuring that disability never becomes a barrier to economic opportunity.
To all beneficiaries, I urge you to see this support as a seed for growth. Invest wisely, keep proper records, sustain your savings culture and continue working together to build stronger and more resilient businesses.
Today, I had the honour of representing my Deputy, Malam Faruk Lawal Jobe, at the Wedding Fatiha of his son, Muhammad Faruk Jobe, and his bride, Juwairiyya Isma’ila Lange, in Abuja.
I congratulate the couple and their families on this joyous occasion. I pray that Almighty Allah bless their union with love, peace, understanding and abundant blessings, and grant them a happy and prosperous married life.
May Allah bless their home with righteous children and make their marriage a source of lasting happiness. Ameen.
The inauguration of the training exercise for Third-Batch SONGHAI Agripreneurs.
Yesterday, I inaugurated the training exercise for the third batch of 361 young agripreneurs under our Agripreneurship Training Programme at the Training Centre in Dutsin-Ma.
I also used the opportunity to assess the ongoing activities at the centre and engage with the trainees to understand their needs and the areas where government can provide additional support.
We are not training young people simply to become job seekers. We are equipping them with practical skills, knowledge and the entrepreneurial mindset to build sustainable businesses, become employers of labour and contribute to the development of their communities.
To further strengthen the programme, I have directed that the 2027 budget should make provision for the upgrading of the Agripreneurship Training Centre and the expansion of its capacity.
We will also increase enrolment from one trainee per ward to three trainees per ward. With 361 wards across Katsina State, this will enable us to train more than 1,000 young people under the programme.
To our trainees, I urge you to take this opportunity seriously. Be diligent, courageous and committed to learning. When you return to your respective wards, I expect you to put your knowledge into practice, share your skills with others and create opportunities for more young people.
The government will continue to provide the necessary support, but your determination, discipline and willingness to work hard will ultimately determine how far you go.
This is what our Building Your Future Agenda is about, creating opportunities, developing skills and empowering our young people to become productive contributors to the economic future of Katsina State.
I wish the third batch of our agripreneurs a successful training exercise and look forward to seeing the businesses, jobs and opportunities they will create across our 361 wards.
Celebrating Nigeria at 66 🇳🇬
As we commemorate Nigeria’s 66th Independence Anniversary, I extend warm greetings to Nigerians at home and across the world.
This anniversary is a reminder of our shared history, our resilience as a people, and the immense possibilities that lie ahead of us as a nation. Despite the challenges we face, Nigeria remains a country of great potential, blessed with remarkable human and natural resources.
As a government, we remain committed to contributing our part to building a more secure, prosperous and inclusive Nigeria—one where our people have greater opportunities to live with dignity, pursue their aspirations and contribute meaningfully to national development.
In Katsina State, we will continue to strengthen our partnership with the Federal Government under the Renewed Hope Agenda, while advancing initiatives that improve security, education, healthcare, agriculture, infrastructure and economic opportunities for our people.
On this special occasion, I call on all Nigerians to continue to uphold our unity, promote peace and strengthen the spirit of patriotism that binds us together.
May Nigeria continue to grow in strength, prosperity and unity.
Happy Independence Day, Nigeria! 🇳🇬
2027 BUDGET: Building on Our People-Centred Development Agenda
Today, I assented to the 2027 Katsina State Appropriation Law of ₦828.58 billion, marking another important step in our commitment to delivering sustainable development and improving the lives of our people.
This is truly a people’s budget, developed through extensive needs assessment and consultations across all 361 wards in the 34 Local Government Areas of Katsina State. It reflects the priorities and aspirations expressed by our people at the grassroots.
The budget also underwent three levels of scrutiny: grassroots needs assessment and collation, defence by Ministries, Departments and Agencies, and legislative review and approval by the Katsina State House of Assembly.
I commend the Rt. Hon. Speaker, Nasir Yahaya Daura, and the entire House of Assembly for the timely passage of the budget. Signing the 2027 Appropriation Law on 30 September, almost two months earlier than the 2026 budget, demonstrates our collective determination to strengthen fiscal planning and commence implementation early.
I have therefore directed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies to ensure timely, efficient and transparent implementation of the approved programmes and projects. The people of Katsina expect results, and we must remain focused on delivering them.
I also appreciate the Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning and his team for the early preparation of the budget, as well as all stakeholders who contributed to the process.
As we begin the implementation of this budget, our priorities remain clear: strengthening human capital, expanding infrastructure, improving healthcare and education, supporting agriculture and enterprise, creating opportunities for our young people, and building a more resilient and prosperous Katsina.
I also used the event to congratulate Hon. Tasiu Musa Maigari, Member representing Zango LGA, on his appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to The Gambia. I wish him success as he takes on this important national assignment.
I pray for continued peace and stability in Katsina State and Nigeria, and for wisdom and guidance as we continue serving our people.
At the World Cancer Congress 2026, PACF is connecting, learning and building partnerships to strengthen awareness, early detection and support for cancer patients and survivors.

From the 81st UNGA in New York:
Engaging the international community remains critical to unlocking new opportunities for development, investment and partnerships that can transform the lives of our people.
At the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, I had the opportunity to engage global leaders, investors, development finance institutions, businesses and philanthropists at the inaugural ASIS Global Action Forum on how we can mobilise more capital for sustainable development.
From our experience in Katsina, I emphasised that the challenge is no longer simply the availability of financing. The greater task is creating the right conditions to attract private capital into development projects and build partnerships that can translate resources into roads, healthcare facilities, irrigation, agriculture, jobs and improved livelihoods.
Katsina has benefited from significant development interventions supported by institutions such as the World Bank, African Development Bank and Islamic Development Bank. These partnerships demonstrate what is possible when governments and international partners work together around clear development priorities.
We must now deepen this engagement by developing bankable projects, strengthening Public-Private Partnerships, deploying effective de-risking mechanisms, ensuring disciplined counterpart funding, and maintaining transparent monitoring and evaluation.
I also called on investors to engage with governments from the design stage, particularly in areas such as agricultural aggregation, storage, processing, logistics, mechanisation, off-take and working capital.
For us in Katsina, we are open to responsible investment and partnerships that create lasting value. We will continue to provide the conditions in which capital can thrive, policy stability, sanctity of contracts, transparent procurement, security of people and assets, and accountable leadership.
Our engagement with the global community must ultimately translate into real investments, more jobs, stronger institutions and improved opportunities for our people.
