🚨 INDIAN PILOT EMERGES AS HERO IN FLYDUBAI MID-AIR CRISIS 💖

​Captain Smit Machchhar, an Indian national and former SpiceJet commander, was reportedly attacked and injured inside the cockpit by his co-pilot aboard Flydubai flight FZ1073.

​Despite the struggle, Captain Machchhar heroically regained control of the Boeing 737 MAX 8 and safely made an emergency landing in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, saving ~174 passengers on board.

During the flight, as they approached the country, one of the pilots stabbed the second pilot, and apparently tried to crash the plane with everyone on board. I spoke with one of the Israeli passengers. He told me that the plane went into a spin and began to dive. He told me that, somehow or other, he managed to break into the cockpit with one of the crew members, and that together they neutralized the stabbing pilot while he was trying to sabotage the plane's systems. Another flight crew on board entered the cockpit and managed to stabilize the plane. I salute these heroes, who displayed exceptional resourcefulness and courage. They saved many lives. They prevented a huge disaster. The plane landed safely at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia. All passengers are out of danger. The stabbing pilot was arrested and is currently being interrogated by the Saudi authorities. We are maintaining constant communication with the relevant authorities to ensure the ongoing well-being of the passengers and their safe return home. Birds of Indian Embassy (@IndiainNepal): Spotted Owlet (Nepali name: कोचलगाँडे लाटोकोसेरो) is one the three owl species that make Indian Embassy their home. They are several of them in the compound and are most active from dusk to early night. As per e-bird its sound is loud “chirurr-chirurr-chirurr” laugh, as also a high-pitched squeals and whistles. Here some photos of Spotted Owlet. There were two other species that I could hear very often the Brown Boobook (Nepali name: कालपेचक) and Collared Scops-Owl (Nepali name: लाट्या कुस्याल) but was unable to photograph. @pbs_savethebird @MOFENepal @birdingindia @birdsinindia @Team_eBird @nepaltourismb @IndiaInNepal

I am pleased to share that the Government of West Bengal, under the leadership of the Hon'ble Chief Minister, Sh. @SuvenduWB Ji, has taken an important decision to establish new Polytechnic institutions in sub-divisions that have so far not had access to such institutions. These include Darjeeling, Dhupguri, Dinhata, and Mekhliganj in our region.

For decades, students from these areas have had to travel considerable distances to pursue technical and skill-based education. For several families, the cost and logistical challenges associated with such travel have been a major barrier to higher and technical education. The establishment of these Polytechnics will help bring quality technical education closer to students and create new pathways for skill development, employment and entrepreneurship. We are further pursuing the establishment of institutions of national importance and advanced higher education in different parts of North Bengal.

The education sector in West Bengal has faced serious challenges over the years, including inadequate infrastructure, delays in recruitment and a lack of adequate opportunities for students under CPIM and TMC. Our government is now rebuilding and strengthening the system with a clear focus on quality, access, transparency and outcomes. The expansion of technical and higher education institutions is an important part of this process.

I sincerely thank the Hon'ble Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi Ji, and the Hon'ble Chief Minister, Sh. Suvendu Adhikari Ji, for addressing the educational needs to the youths of our region and the state.
