Speaking to HipHopDX, $hort recalled spending an incredible amount of time perfecting a single verse:
“I did an eight hour session to record the verse, then I did an eight hour session to touch up the verse. Then he called me back for four hours just to say ‘the p*ssy, for four hours”.
Despite the exhausting process, $hort admitted he was impressed when Dre played the recording back.
“And when he played it back, I had no regrets, sh*t was amazing”.
“We gotta rethink our whole sh*t!” 🤯🔥👀
Timbaland recalled the night Pharrell and Chad Hugo’s production made him stop working on his own music.
While recording with Missy Elliott at Master Sound Studios in Virginia Beach, Tim heard the Neptunes working on Kelis’s “Caught Out There” in another room:
“I just kept listening that beat to the studio nextdoor and I told Missy I was done for the night, that sh*t was so good I was like ‘we gotta rethink our whole sh*t’ and I just left”.
Imagine being so good you’re making Timbaland stop a session with Missy Elliott.

Speaking to REVOLT’s Tour Tales about touring overseas with Eminem, D12 and Xzibit, Swiff recalled:
“We know Dr. Dre know about sound more than anything, so we were like, ‘What kind of mics are they using? He ain’t yelling and saying all of his lyrics’”.
Swiff explained that he and André watched Eminem perform every night, amazed by his delivery.
Imagine being so good live that André 3000 starts questioning your microphone setup😂

Stop trying to cause problems in L.A.!” 😤🐐🔥
Ice Cube says signing new rappers would be unfair because he couldn’t give them the attention they need.
Responding on X, Cube checked his critics after being questioned about why he hadn’t used his money and resources to sign or develop new L.A. talent:
“Because I’m an independent artist who’s not retired or semiretired. I write, produce and perform my own music. I write, produce, direct and star in movies. I also produce the soundtracks. I produce television as well. I’m also the co-founder and CEO of my own professional basketball league called the BIG3. It’s unfair for any rapper to be signed to me and expect the kind of attention they need to be successful. People like you, will always criticize people like me for not using my talents and resources in the way they see fit. Mind your own business cause the first time something is produced that you consider ‘wack’ you’d be asking everybody ‘Why’d they working with an old ass n*gga like Cube!?’ Stop trying to cause problems in L.A. and keep it pushing”.
“He threw them in the trash!” 😂🐐🔥
Bow Wow says staying at Michael Jordan’s house came with one very specific rule: don’t walk around MJ wearing another NBA star’s sneakers.
While touring with Jordan’s sons, Bow Wow says he woke up one morning wearing a pair of Allen Iverson’s Reeboks:
“He woke me up and he took my Iversons and threw them in the trash”.
Jordan then gave him a fresh pair of Jordans to wear instead.
“He sounded just like me, my voice!” 😂🔥🐐
Bizarre says recording with Eminem during their D12 days could be exhausting because Em was obsessed with getting everything right. Sometimes they would spend five or six hours working on a single verse.
One night, Bizarre went home while Eminem still wanted him to redo some ad-libs. Apparently Em didn’t feel like waiting until the next day:
“I guess he couldn’t wait for me, so when I came back the next day, he had did ’em for me”.
The craziest part was Eminem had actually imitated Bizarre’s voice to record them and nailed it, leaving Biz shook.
“This is for the fans!” 🐐💜🔥

Tupac sat down for an interview with MTV back in 1996 and clearly said there was no need for a East Coast/ West Coast war:
“Squash the drama. Let’s get back to making some money. That’s what it’s all about. That’s what I’m trying to do. People try to make it bigger than it is but it’s just a problem between two rappers”.
He then named Buckshot, Smif-N-Wessun, Greg Nice, Boot Camp Clik and the Outlawz as proof that artists from both coasts could still work together.

After Drake was taken out of the conversation because he’s already proven his longevity, Joe admitted they were struggling to come up with answers:
“Eladio you asked us a question that we can’t even answer, maybe Don Toliver, I like Don, but right now my money is on the old guys”.
Joe then pointed at the veterans like himself, Jadakiss, French Montana and the Clipse to prove his point.
Joe just recently dropped his new album “Organized Rhymes” and honestly, it bangs!🔥
“You’re going to look bad!” 🤯👀🔥
Snoop Dogg was saying yes to movie cameos until Ice Cube called him over for a reality check:
“Cube called me and invited me at the crib, I got there and he asked me to stop saying yes to everything, he was like ‘they using your name to push their sh*t but you’re going to look bad at the end of the day’”.
From that moment on, Snoop took his role selection much more seriously and started choosing only projects he felt fit his image.
“Tupac Amaru Shakur was a beast!” 🐐🕊️❤️
DJ Quik says he would’ve put himself between Tupac and his sh**ter.
Speaking on “Drink Champs” with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN, Quik admitted he’d been too caught up in his own success to properly appreciate Pac. Hearing “Dear Mama” made him revisit the catalog and recognize what he’d overlooked:
“The moment I heard ‘Dear Mama’ I had to stop and get out of my car, I was like…man Tupac Amaru Shakur was a beast … I wish I could have been there because I would have easily jumped in front of the sh**ter”.

Kiss explained that listening closely can turn a Nas song into a whole history lesson.
