Is Yale training public health experts or activists? 🧑‍⚕️❓

Yale School of Public Health’s U.S. Health Justice Concentration says a lot about inequality, race, and sexual orientation but much less about medical realities.

The coursework seems to assume health disparities are mostly the result of oppressive “systems,” while giving less weight to individual choices like smoking, which often contribute to poor outcomes.

Its own materials say students will learn to “understand and address health disparities in public health and ultimately achieve health equity,” along with the “theoretical frameworks and practical applications of community organizing and advocacy as a means of subverting traditional systems of power.”

What’s missing is a stronger focus on the basics: how disease spreads, how prevention works, and how people can make healthier choices. 

This is a Master of Public Health. Shouldn’t it teach public health? 👀

Eight months. That’s how long Eleanor Holman has been missing from her family in Washington. The Puyallup School District kept her social transition secret from her parents under state law, then helped connect her with gender activists and placed her with a stranger. Washington’s SB 5599 allows the government to hide runaway children from their parents when gender confusion is involved.

The U.S. Supreme Court has agreed to hear our lawsuit — International Partners for Ethical Care v. Robert Ferguson — challenging this law. Eleanor’s family still has no information on her whereabouts.

"When physicians and medical journals weigh in on complex social and economic problems, they may oversimplify dynamics they do not fully understand, confuse correlation with causation, or lend the authority of medicine to policy prescriptions that are neither evidence-based nor practically feasible. 

There is also a concern that framing health outcomes primarily through the lens of social conditions diminishes the role of personal responsibility and individual behavioral change — factors that remain central to clinical medicine and that patients can act on directly. "

Is race being used as a hidden factor in medical school admissions, even after the Supreme Court banned it? ‼️

The Department of Justice suggests UC San Diego’s medical school may be using a “hardship” category to screen applicants in a way that functioned as a proxy for race.

But this isn't just one school. AMCAS, the application service used by most U.S. medical schools, includes very similar "hardship" language in its own application.

FOIA requests to 93 public medical schools found many appear to be skirting or outright violating the Supreme Court's ruling. 

The ruling allows applicants to describe how race has shaped their lives. However, it does not allow schools to use that information as a way to revive race-based admissions

If schools are using "hardship" language to do exactly that, they should be help accountable.

“The National Institutes of Health awarded nearly half a million dollars to study “gender-affirming care for BIPOC and rural gender diverse youth,” with some of that money coming after President Trump took office.

The most recent entry for the study shows the federal government spent $143,000 on the project in fiscal year 2025. However, another government database shows that taxpayers spent $428,296 on the research since April 2023."
