Thursday I saw the Toronto Symphony. Everyone followed the conductor. The violins and even the triangle always entered exactly on time. Of course the concert started 5 minutes late.

To my American friends, I am so sorry. To my Canadian friends, our reaction shouldn’t be “Thank goodness that isn’t us!” Because that could easily be us after our own federal election. Some of us (e.g. in Ontario and Alberta) are already there.

All the corporate Pride flags downtown made me smile despite myself. But all the wonderfully openly Queer folks downtown made me smile even more. This is honestly probably the best month of the year in Toronto.
