DPAA personnel disinterred eight caskets, from the Korean War, at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. These possible remains are now at our laboratory, where forensic teams will work to identify these unknown individuals and resolve the cases of our missing personnel.
Elected officials, DPAA Nebraska lab personnel, and the 55th Wing gathered at Offutt AFB for an honorable carry ceremony, receiving 26 recovered caskets from Europe.
Now begins the work to identify these personnel and bringing answers to families.

The 26 Europe-Mediterranean Disinterment Team disinterred 4 Unknowns from the Florence American Cemetery in Italy Via Cassia, June 17. The remains will be carefully transferred to the laboratory in Offutt AFB for further analyses and potential identification.

A U.S. flag flown at half-staff over the U.S. Capitol on Dec. 17, 2012, now has a permanent home at the Daniel K. Inouye DPAA Center for Excellence, honoring Sen. Daniel K. Inouye’s enduring legacy and support for our mission.

DPAA will honor U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Jack Benton Baker during a transfer of custody ceremony on July 21. Missing since the Korean War, Baker has now been accounted for and will be escorted by his nephew as he begins his journey home.
