CDA will continue to support and advocate for our members in mitigating construction impacts on their business and what’s in the best interest of downtown.
On July 11, the City of Calgary announced a delay to the Stephen Avenue Redesign project in response to concerns from several business owners about the potential impact on their operations. Since 2022, CDA has played an active role in the project.
Our advocacy has pushed for design changes that better support businesses and street-level activity, many of which the City is now implementing. The redesign is long overdue. Much of the Avenue’s infrastructure, including water pipes are over 100 years old and require updates.
