Last, but by no means least on our trail is Drogheda, gateway to the world-famous Boyne Valley region. The Boyne Viaduct, on the seaward side of the town, is an iconic local landmark built in 1853 #sealouth#LouthChat
The shallow lagoons at Baltray are a haven for rare birds, including little terns and little egrets. Here, you will also find the remains of a ship wreck which ran aground in 1974 #sealouth#LouthChat
Both the quaint village and the beautiful beach at Termonfeckin are worth a visit – walk for miles along the sand and shale, and breath in the salty sea air. Termonfeckin Bridge crosses the Ballywater River as it flows to the Irish Sea #sealouth#LouthChat
Clogherhead has it all – an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the picturesque fishing village has ‘Grade A’ classed waters, the purest of the sea. The harbour at Port Oriel is home to a large fishing fleet, the perfect spot to watch boats coming and going #sealouth#LouthChat
If you are looking for a secluded, sandy beach, I highly recommend Port Beach, located a few short miles north of Clogherhead. The second @BlueFlagIreland beach in our trail, Port Beach is a great spot for a dip or a swim! #sealouth#LouthChat
Annagassan is our next stop, a quaint seaside village with a rich Viking heritage. The long beach and charming harbour are ideal spots from which to admire the natural beauty and sea views. A must try while visiting here is the local razor clams #sealouth#LouthChat
The seaside village of Blackrock is a hotspot for locals and tourists alike, with its charming seafront promenade and brilliant beaches. Browse the artisan shops and enjoy the bars, cafes and award-winning restaurants while you are here #sealouth#LouthChat
Dundalk’s dining scene is attracting attention far and wide. And it's little wonder, when they are offering the freshest local seafood on their menus. Visit https://t.co/uOkBTv4gj8 for a full listing of restaurants #LouthChat
Did you know, Dundalk Bay is the single most important site in Ireland for migratory wading birds, and a Special Area of Conservation. Dundalk Port at George’s Quay is a great spot to see the daily comings and goings of ships and boats #sealouth#LouthChat
Peaceful Gyles Quay is a haven for walkers, with breath-taking views out over Dundalk Bay. You may even be lucky enough to witness the wonderful work done by @seal_rescue as they release seals back into the wild J #sealouth#LouthChat
Louth is home to three @BlueFlagIreland beaches, including Templetown Beach, a hidden gem ideal for families. Don't forget to pack a picnic! #sealouth#LouthChat
Next, we head to Greenore, a historic railway village on the southern shore of Carlingford Lough, an Architectural Conservation Area built in the 1870’s. Look out for the Haulbowline Lighthouse, a well-known local landmark #sealouth#LouthChat
