The Rotary Christmas Carol Concert at St Mildred’s Church was magical this year! Our Vice President, Oksana Romanukha, gave a moving reading to a crowd of over 400 people! Many mince pies and cups of mulled wine were consumed, and we raised close to £1,300 for local charities. 🎄

Lovely film shown @AshfordCouncil today on initiative of Mayor Cllr Lyn Suddards about motor neurone disease & remembering Cllr Alex Ward. He served on the council but was lost to MND in July 2020. The film highlights research effort to find a cure for this devastating disease.

Earlier this week I was @OECD where post WW2 Marshall Plan was administered…a powerful reminder of vital role of US aid to post war reconstruction in Europe. On Friday Trump admin released its National Security Strategy that repudiates 80 years of US diplomacy & leadership.

We need to confront this betrayal of values of democracy & multilateral cooperation. Europe’s dangerous trajectory is caused by divisive populism, folly of Brexit, oligarchs seeking to avoid public interest regulation & threats posed by Putin’s aim to restore a Russian empire.
