How can Europe’s next agricultural budget better support farmers and rural areas? 🌾
At #CoRPlenary, the opinion on the Common Agricultural Policy for the Period 2028–2034 by rapporteur @PiotrCalbecki was adopted 👇
@EPP_CoR
#Eplenary, @EP_Fisheries 👇
Our rapporteur,Thibault Guignard's opinion recently adopted at #CoRplenary calls for an EU funding dedicated to fisheries, aquaculture and coastal communities to be maintained at least at current levels under the next MFF.
Our thoughts are with the people of Kyiv and all Ukrainian cities again targeted by Russia's brutal attacks. We stand in solidarity with Mayor @Vitaliy_Klychko and every community affected. Ukraine's strength lies in its people. Their courage, resilience and hope remain unbroken.
@HannaZdanowska Every solar panel installed on a school roof and every heat pump manufactured in Europe strengthens our energy security while creating jobs, driving innovation and supporting sustainable economic growth. @vlasta_krmelj
Europe can achieve its ambitious climate goals, but only if we radically strengthen implementation. The direction is European, yet action happens in our cities and regions—where clean technologies are deployed, investments are made and public support is built. @mmarkkula
Achieving 🇪🇺's 2030 climate & energy targets requires massive investment in electricity grids at regional & local level. EU funding must help modernise these networks, reduce the cost of the energy transition & deliver more affordable energy for citizens. @HannaZdanowska
In Cantabria, fisheries are not just an industry — they are identity, culture and community.
A 67% cut to EU fisheries funding is unacceptable. Europe must preserve a dedicated fisheries fund with at least the current budget to protect this strategic sector. @misabelurrutia
The future of EU fisheries depends on clear political choices: generational renewal, a strong dedicated budget, and recognition of fishermen’s commitment to sustainability.
Protecting our oceans & keeping Europe’s fishing sector competitive must go hand in hand. @LopezMirasF
If we want #CAP reform to succeed, we must build it together with farmers in every European village. Without them, reform will only create more bureaucracy, holding back investment, innovation, and the future of European agriculture. @PiotrCalbecki
Europe cannot afford delay.
Ahead of UN CBD #COP17 and UNFCCC #COP31, we call for a faster break from fossil fuels, stronger climate resilience and investment in nature.
Regions and cities must be at the table — because they deliver Europe’s green commitments. @KBakoyannis
Europe must seize this moment to modernise its budget so it can truly deliver on security & resilience. But let us be clear: we cannot do more with less. A credible & ambitious MFF requires new, sustainable sources of funding and a strengthened system of own resources @sarirautio
450 billion euros for EU cohesion 2028–2034. At least 218 billion for less developed regions. Harghita County qualifies. But only regions that prepare NOW will receive it. Attended the @ @EPP_CoR conference in Trnava today. The clock is ticking.
#CohesionPolicy #PlaceBasedDevelopment
New European Bauhaus event today reinforced: local heritage and craftsmanship ARE competitive assets — if the right funding frameworks exist. Rural identity is not a weakness. It's a foundation.

The green transition can only succeed together with local communities.
Europe’s environmental objectives will only be achieved if local and regional authorities are given the tools, funding and flexibility needed to deliver them on the ground. In rural and mountainous regions, biodiversity protection must be balanced with the safety, livelihoods and long-term presence of local communities.
We cannot ignore the growing challenges of human–wildlife coexistence. When wildlife damage forces farmers to abandon their land, we risk losing the very people whose work preserves the grasslands and meadows Europe seeks to protect.
Europe’s environmental policies must be practical, fair and adapted to local realities. Regions are ready to deliver, but they need support and recognition of their specific circumstances.

At the #SEDEC meeting, I highlighted that culture and heritage strengthen democracy, social cohesion and resilient communities. Local and regional authorities must play a stronger role in preserving Europe’s cultural and linguistic diversity. @EPP_CoR
Ahead of @EUCouncil discussions on the next phase of the #MFF negotiations, @sarirautio and @Moedas call on national governments to demonstrate ambition, responsibility and confidence in Europe's regions and cities. Read the op-ed on @sapo
