With the upcoming revision, it must:

🔹 Clearly define the obligations of all actors in the WEEE value chain
🔹 Enforce separate collection to improve recovery of valuable resources
🔹 Ensure quality recycled content for new products
🔹 Strengthen reporting and stop free-riding

The conference was the occasion for members to share best practices and to hear insights by industry stakeholders and experts.

🔍 @EucoLight Conference 2024 took place today, engaging various stakeholders to highlight crucial aspects of the Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive’s ongoing evaluation.

Our Environment Policy Senior Director, @KorrinaHegarty, presented APPLiA’s insights on the #WEEE Directive evaluation, emphasising the need for a legislative approach that aims to:

✅ Close gaps in WEEE collection

✅ Improve the quality of recycled materials

✅ Ensure better harmonisation and enforcement

✅ Adapt to evolving market trends and circumstances

✅ Build on best practices

🚫 Prohibit detrimental practices

We look forward to working further with the lighting sector and other stakeholders on the #WEEE Evaluation and future revision.
