Today, we held the 16th annual EU-Israel High Level Seminar to combat antisemitism and foster Jewish life.
It is a good opportunity to discuss current threats, challenges & opportunities to counter antisemitism and foster Jewish life.
Antisemitism has no place in Europe.
🌍 From Geneva - the place where the world unites to tackle its greatest challenges - we, the #SECCA, have one message: 🚨 There is NO place for antisemitism, there can be NO excuse for #antisemitism. It cannot be tolerated anytime or any place.🚨

Normalised #antisemitism is a direct threat to democracy & whole of gov is needed to counter it. @EU_Commission's framework ensures coordination of actions at all levels, including globally.

New @EU_Commission Eurobarometer shows #antisemitism is a growing concern: 55% of Europeans see it as a problem, with rising hostility in public & online, & 69% say Jews are increasingly perceived through the lens of Middle East conflicts.

Today we remember the six million Jewish women, men and children, hundreds of thousands of Roma, and all the other victims murdered during the Holocaust.
We also mark the 81st anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration and extermination camp Auschwitz-Birkenau.
It is our duty to teach future generations about European history, including its darkest chapters.
Never again.
Jewish culture is woven into the fabric of European history. We must protect and nurture this today and well into the future.
Remembrance ensures that we never forget historical truth.
We remember, together.
Remembering is never only a ritual - it is a call to action, especially in times when Jews hide their identity to feel safe. It is unbearable that this is the case in #Europe 81 yrs after the end of the #Shoah.

"3 generations after Shoah, #HolocaustRemembrance is increasingly important. #HolocaustDistortion is being used to divide us, to relativise crime & to fuel #antisemitism. (...) This is unacceptable. There is no place & no justification for antisemitism."

81 yrs ago, when Auschwitz was liberated, the unimaginable atrocities of Nazi horrors were uncovered. Today we see normalisation of #antisemitism & widespread #HolocaustDistorsion & inversion of victims & perpetrators. #NeverAgain is a call to action to fight this.
#WeRemember
1/ 81 years ago, the darkest chapter in Europe’s history came to an end. Keeping it‘s memory alive is our shared responsibility, and essential to confronting antisemitism and protecting our democratic values.
