Every year, thousands of people accept what they believe are legitimate job offers, only to find themselves trapped in scam compounds, stripped of their freedom and forced into cyber-enabled fraud.
Human trafficking is evolving in the digital age. Criminal networks exploit deception to recruit victims and force them into criminal activities.
On the #WorldDay Against Trafficking in Persons, the #EU 🇪🇺 reaffirms its commitment to fighting trafficking through stronger international cooperation, support for victims, and action against the criminal networks behind these crimes, including a proposed new EU sanctions regime targeting organised crime.
Together with @UNODC, the EU is working to expose these crimes, protect victims and hold traffickers accountable.

Russia has long presented itself as a reliable partner and a source of stability beyond the West. As pressure mounts, that promise is wearing thin. Partners ask for support and get silence instead, left to manage on their own.
The question many governments now face is simple: is Russia still a partner worth the risk? Instability, broken commitments and shrinking influence make that answer harder to defend.

"African journalists are the bridge between parliamentary diplomacy and the people turning complex policy conversations into stories that inform, engage and empower citizens." Michael Dewornu #AUEU
Following an exchange with. Hilde Vautmans, Chair, and Ingeborg ter Laak, Second Vice-Chair of the European Parliament's Standing Delegation to the Africa-Europe Parliamentary Assembly, AU Media Fellow Michael reflected on the role of African journalists in making parliamentary diplomacy relevant to everyday citizens.

Turning market uncertainty into stable incomes for smallholder farmers. 🌱
Through the #ZRBF project, farmers in Mbire like Takesure Hove are now connected to reliable buyers, building long-term resilience. @euinzim is glad to support initiatives like this that make a tangible difference in rural livelihoods. 🇪🇺🇿🇼

For years, growing sesame in Mbire was characterized by uncertainty. Farmers invested in every season without knowing whether buyers would come or whether the prices offered would justify their hard work.
For smallholder farmers like Takesure Hove, that uncertainty changed with support from the @ZRBFZIM project, which connected farmers to reliable buyers, including SesAfrika.
Today, sesame farming is becoming a pathway to more secure incomes and greater resilience. @euinzim@GovIE@fpc_online@FAOZimbabwe@MoLAFWRD_Zim@CAREZimbabwe@DanChurchAidZW@mercycorps
DID YOU KNOW? Since its debut in 2011, Zimbabwe has maintained a continuous, uninterrupted national pavilion at every single Venice Art Biennale! 🇿🇼🎨
That’s 15+ years of putting Zimbabwean contemporary art at the center of the global cultural map.
@euinzim🇪🇺🇿🇼 is proud to have played a catalytic role from day one, supporting the @NatGalleryZimb to secure its inaugural Venice pavilion in 2011.
Cultural diplomacy isn't just about art—it's about opening global markets for local creative talent!
Congratulations to the @MinSport_ArtsZw, the @NatGalleryZim team, the curators, and all the incredible artists who continue to make history in Venice!

VK presents itself as a tech company.
In reality, it helps power the Kremlin's surveillance machine. From monitoring users to enabling repression, its role has now landed it on the EU sanctions list.
Watch how technology becomes a tool of control.
Last year, the Kremlin’s 'digital sovereignty' delivered more than 37,000 hours of internet outages to 146 million users, becoming the world leader in cumulative internet outage time and causing over $11 billion in economic losses.
Judging by the uninterrupted flow of threats and disinformation posted on platforms otherwise restricted for ordinary Russians, Kremlin officials appear to have enjoyed an entirely different version of this 'digital sovereignty.'
Ethiopia is a valued partner for the European Union and one of Africa’s most influential countries.
It was good to meet with Ethiopia’s Prime Minister @AbiyAhmedAli and Foreign Minister @GHessebon in Addis Ababa today.
We discussed the region's most pressing security challenges, including the devastating war in Sudan, Al-Shabaab's terrorist threat in Somalia, Iran's attacks on its neighbours. We also talked about Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine and its repercussions beyond Europe.
Stronger EU-Ethiopia ties are in our shared interest.
Our relation delivers.
And we are committed to more cooperation, more business opportunities, more investments.
