Friday nights in Regent Park are hard to beat.
The Regent Park Cultural Bazaar brings neighbours together to celebrate the incredible diversity that makes Toronto Centre so special. From delicious food and local vendors to live music, art, and family-friendly activities, it's one of the highlights of the summer—and an event our office is proud to support.
If you haven't checked it out yet, there's still time! Join us every Friday from 3:00–8:00 p.m. until August 28 and experience one of the best community gatherings in Toronto Centre in the Big Park in Regent Park!
We’re working to make life more affordable.
Today, Canada Groceries and Essentials Benefit payments are going out to help with everyday costs, from groceries and rent to transit, utilities, and other essentials.
By October, eligible Canadians can receive up to $679 for individuals, $890 for couples, plus $234 per eligible child.
There are few moments more meaningful than welcoming Canada's newest citizens on Canada Day.
Today in Toronto Centre, we celebrated people whose journeys have brought them from every corner of the world to this moment: becoming Canadian.
Canada has always been shaped by the people who choose to build their lives here. Their stories, cultures, talents, and dreams strengthen our communities and remind us that our diversity is one of our greatest strengths.
Congratulations to everyone who took the Oath of Citizenship today. Thank you for choosing Canada, and for helping write the next chapter of our country's story.
Happy Canada Day!
We had such a great afternoon in St. James Park spending time with neighbours and friends from across Toronto Centre!
Canada Day is about coming together, celebrating the communities that make our country stronger, and spending time with the people around us.
A huge thank you to the St. Lawrence Neighbourhood Association, the incredible volunteers, performers, and everyone who helped make today such a welcoming celebration. And, of course, handing out ice cream on a beautiful summer day was a lot of fun!
Wishing everyone a safe, happy, and joyful Canada Day!
Community is strongest when everyone has a place to belong.
It was a pleasure to join the 10th anniversary of InclusiV yesterday and celebrate a decade of creating a space where people of all abilities can come together, connect, dance and simply enjoy themselves.
Thank you to everyone at Substance Cares for building something so welcoming, and to all the volunteers, families, caregivers, and participants who make this event what it is year after year. Here's to the next 10 years!
🇨🇦
What a game! 🇨🇦
So proud of the Canadian Men’s National Team on today’s incredible victory and their advance to the Round of 16 at the FIFA World Cup 2026.
True Canadian heroes.
The True North, strong and free.
I was honoured to join the congregation at Church on Church with MCC Toronto.
Pride is about celebration, but it's also about community, compassion, and the ongoing work of ensuring everyone can live openly, safely, and with dignity.
Thank you to everyone at MCC Toronto for your warm welcome, your ministry, and your decades of leadership in creating a place where so many have found belonging, hope, and home.
Happy Pride, Toronto Centre.
🇨🇦
Pride begins with community.
This morning, I was proud to join thousands of runners, walkers, families, and volunteers at the Pride and Remembrance Run—one of Toronto's longest-standing Pride traditions.
The run is a celebration of how far we've come, but also a moment to remember those we've lost to HIV/AIDS and to honour the advocates whose courage made today's Pride possible.
Their legacy reminds us that the rights we celebrate today were never simply given—they were earned. And it's up to all of us to protect them.
Thank you to everyone who organized, volunteered, donated, and participated. Your energy, compassion, and commitment are what make Toronto's Pride community so extraordinary.
Happy Pride!
Last week, I had the honour of delivering a sermon at Metropolitan Community Church, a place that has long been a beacon of love, acceptance, and advocacy for Toronto’s 2SLGBTQ+ community.
Belonging is at the heart of Pride. It means ensuring everyone can live with dignity, love, and respect—and building a country where no one is pushed to the margins for who they are.
Thank you to Rev. Deana Dudley, Rev. Junia Joplin, the incredible choir, and everyone who welcomed me so warmly.
Happy Pride.

Congratulations to Toronto Centre resident Lorin MacDonald on receiving her Order of Canada insignia during an investiture ceremony at Rideau Hall yesterday, June 25, following her appointment to the Order of Canada in 2024.
Born with profound hearing loss, Lorin has transformed disability rights in Canada through decades of advocacy, legal leadership and education. A human rights lawyer and instructor at the Lincoln Alexander School of Law, she has broken down barriers by championing accessibility, including introducing captioning in academic, legal and theatrical settings so more Canadians can fully participate.
Her work has changed lives, expanded opportunity and helped build a more inclusive Canada.
Toronto Centre is incredibly proud to call Lorin one of our own. Congratulations on this well-deserved honour!!
At St. Mike's Hospital this week, Minister @EvanLSolomon joined us at a launch event for Vital, uniting 250+ leaders across healthcare, academia, industry, military and government to discuss AI, health data and Canada’s next era of innovation. https://t.co/qQooDizFTN
