@frankiemacd Full precision calculator to the rescue. Rounded to 3 decimals the result is 9.999e+6926 mph or 1.491e+6918 times the speed of light, fast enough to cross the entire observable universe in 1.947e-6900 of a second, or 3.611e-6857 of a plank second.
@teeteegone Aw man, this ship is reminding me of something that I can't put my finger on. Did you post a picture of it on r/worldbuilding a month or so ago?
@mikusingularity@Christo25568024 Its funny, 3 days after you posted this they starting posting updates on the discord server again. Glad to see development is still happening!
@Christo25568024@mikusingularity As of May they are back! They've been posting quite a bit on their discord server, the most recent development post was from last month.
@ProbsNotAliens Nice, so glad to hear this pod again! Found a correction at 33:35. Time doesn't move faster on the surface of a neutron star, it actually moves a bit slower. The reason why the aliens were so fast was because their biology use much stronger nuclear reactions rather than chemical.
@macyagilliam Everyone's talking about the Modern Art Ad, as they should, but its also great how he's at terminal 42 for some Douglas Adams energy as well.
@Realducklord1@FloWendelborn@CherryTruthy@SOPHONTSIMP I know about that thought experiment and agree it's a good metaphor for modern chat bots. But there is nothing we know that says it will be true for all AI's we ever build. It's far to early to say if consciousness is unique biological brains and can never be replicated.
@Realducklord1@FloWendelborn@CherryTruthy@SOPHONTSIMP Current "AI" is not conscious, I don't disagree about that. The thing I took umbrage with was your claim that it *cannot* be. We simply do not know enough about how consciousness works to make firm statements like "AI can never be conscious".
@leanmelee@loybeek@edandersen@jdcmedlock You're both right, the term heat pump is often used as a general term for any machine that pumps heat against a thermal gradient, so refrigeration is a subset of heat pumps. The term is also often used more specifically to refer to reversible heat pumps for heating and cooling.
