Good news today!!! The oncologist said I won't need any follow up treatments and that the cancer was one that is typically considered cured through surgery. I'm overjoyed. Speechless. Ready to move on from it all, just gotta heal
By the time I found out about my endometriosis, that was not my only issue. They found appendix cancer during my hysterectomy and appendectomy and now I've had almost a foot of colon removed. Absolutely wild.
I spent 5 days in the hospital for my right hemicolectomy. By the 4th day I was able to get up on my own but it's a rough recovery. The incisions hurt more than my insides. The hospital staff took good care of me π
The most frustrating part of telling people about my upcoming right colectomy is that most people seem to have no clue about their own anatomy. You have these parts too! Your appendix is kinda spare parts but it's attached to something you know
My endometriosis journey has been going on for over 20 years. I just didn't have a diagnosis. It's validating and terrifying. You're left with knowing what it is but thinking "now what"?
Chronic illness teaches us that healing isn't always about getting better: it often means discovering how to lead a fulfilling life despite persistent symptoms.
Sometimes you can have it and not even have symptoms until it's too late. they actually lowered the recommended age for colonoscopies because so many younger people have cancer now. Please get checked, don't wait. Thank you @VancityReynolds for leading by example.
