On Friday, our team concluded our annual planning week with inspiring visits to the Charles Sumner School Museum and Archives and Planet Word to explore DC's education history and spark new ideas for the year ahead.

Reducing chronic absenteeism is one of DC's top education priorities, but how we measure attendance matters. A new DC Education Research Collaborative report finds that using three transparent, publicly-available approaches reveals schools that are quietly improving or outperforming expectations. Relying on one number risks pulling resources from schools that are making progress and missing schools that are struggling.
