Very sad news about the death of Erwin James. He wrote a text for my first book and we had the chance to meet over the years for talks and events. He was very supportive of my work and always had reflective and critical insights.

Very sad to learn of the tragic death of Erwin James, a hugely talented man. I understand he fell and hit his head before tumbling over the quayside edge into very cold water last Friday where he died. He was on the quayside because he had a boat moored there.
He did so much to highlight the plight of prisoners and will be greatly missed.
