@WaterfrontAll@Fortgoose@NoJetsTO@ChantalHbert@MarkJCarney It's a pipe dream you think Pearson can handle another 17+ million. I work there, they can barely keep the moving walkways and escalators working.
YTZ isn't meant to replace Pearson, it's to work alongside it... Let's use our brains there...
@markevans Here's a new hot take I thought of this morning. All you people want the expansion stopped because the yacht club is going to be affected. How about we move the yacht club? Problem solved 👍🏼
@hahakshdhj@erica_comm Passing up expanding an airport that's been around since the 1940s to give people another option would be a HUGE mistake and loss for generations
@OntarioGreens All because of Donald Trump and the Elbows up gang. If YTZ had the ability to have flights serving western Canada, the numbers would be up
@BongsMahlangu_ Because in the post-covid world, everyone thinks they are entitled to their personal space and when you inconvenience them, they get all emotional.
@hahakshdhj@erica_comm Annnnnnd that's the attitude that has Toronto stuck in the 1970s. "You'll be fine", the year is 2070 and Toronto is still using streetcars while all the other cities have LRTs and 98% reliability
@klaaspice@DaleBarbour I know, it's pretty funny how bad Toronto is. It takes me 2 hours to commute from Oshawa to Pearson. Lived in Vancouver for 5 years and never had a commute over 45 minutes and I drive the same distance
@theDYNAMICS This is exactly how Toronto functions. Our airports are 20 years behind, and it will only be when something happens or people complain enough that something will change... We have a good chance to expand YTZ yet that's getting shot down
@WaterfrontAll@ChantalHbert@MarkJCarney@NoJetsTO You seem to be not supporting your own cause for "waterfrontforall" I won't deny there are negative implications but at the same time, there are some positives that are getting seriously twisted. It's even in that report you shared, go take a look
@WaterfrontAll@ChantalHbert@MarkJCarney@NoJetsTO Also TL.DR? It's not that at all, it's the twisted fact that the NoJetsTO people think YTZ is going to see Boeing 777 aircraft there. You'll see the quietest and most fuel efficient aircraft operating at YTZ and people wouldn't even notice it over the noise of a streetcar
This is what airlines should do for those that oppose the YTZ Expansion. During checkout for a flight from YYZ, they should have a "Do you support the Island Airport Expansion?" Button, and knowing how these people are, they'll click no, and this will add a $100 carrier surcharge
This would allow those that oppose future expansion of Toronto the right to feel what it's like to be nickel and dimed. I don't want to pay $12 for the UP every time I want to travel, I'd rather pay my $12 on the GO train and call it a day.
@hahakshdhj@erica_comm Isn't that the same narrative we heard during the PanAm games? Honestly, why do the people of the GTA love living in a city that functions like it's in the 1970s
