“Dumping the Army chief of staff in the middle of a war, without explanation, is a reckless move even by Hegseth’s standards,” @RadioFreeTom argues: https://t.co/Qxmsl1GnAZ
WATCH: The White House took down this video, but we still have it.
Trump: We can't take care of daycare. We're a big country. We're fighting wars. It's not possible for us to take care of daycare, Medicaid, Medicare, all these things.
Pete Hegseth is recklessly firing some of our most dedicated military leaders.
These are folks with hundreds of years of combined experience, being pushed out with no notice.
Hegseth’s political purges are endangering our national security.
Just days before the United States launched a major military operation in Iran, FBI Director Kash Patel fired a dozen agents and staff members from a counterintelligence unit tasked with monitoring threats from Iran, according to two sources familiar with the matter. https://t.co/juMN9Xq20k
Again, far too late. State and the admin blew this-and it’s a reflection of hallowed out expertise from a DOGE inspired reduction in 1/4 of their workforce and politicized leadership. This call would have been much far sooner in normal times. The Iranian reaction was absolutely predictable. Potential attacks on US facilities was all we talked about last week, pre-war.
Maybe Rubio should stop inventing "imminent threats" to justify the war his administration started and get to work doing his department's job of helping Americans in the war zone they created.
One of the most important jobs the embassies do is rendering assistance to Americans abroad. This is unforgivable in an instance where the problem was created by an administration that clearly made no advance efforts to provide the predictably-needed aid to Americans.
“Please do not rely on the US government for assisted departure or evacuation…”
That’s the message you get when you dial the State Department’s emergency number that Marco Rubio urged Americans stuck in the Middle East to call today - 202-501-4444
So the State Department is forcing everyone to immediately leave the region but is also refusing to help people leave the region.
The strike itself is illegal and disastrous but their lack of readiness for what comes next is unforgivable as well.
Incompetence everywhere.
Dear @SecRubio: You told Americans to depart now via commercial means when you know many airports/airspace are closed.
YOU MUST IMMEDIATELY SCHEDULE U.S. GOVERNMENT EVACUATION FLIGHTS FOR THE STRANDED AMERICANS IN DANGER.
Maybe you should have thought of a frickin’ plan first.
Still trying to wrap my head around Kash firing a unit that specializes in Iranian counter-intel LAST WEEK -- when they knew war was coming -- because the agents were involved in the Trump classified docs case.

@cspan@SenSchumer Disgusting enabling of increasingly sociopathic and abusive Republican party. Shame on the 8. Republican abuse will only get worse. Americans would have pressured Republicans, but weak Democrats protected Republicans from the coming consequence. Dems seem weak, stupid.@SenateDems

@WhiteHouse THE BALLROOM IS TRUMP'S UNDOING. He literally destroyed a historic part of the White House for an ego project, arrogantly with no approval or consultation and while gleefully taking jobs and healthcare from Americans. Mark this moment as the beginning of the MAGA end! Hideous!
@WhiteHouse You destroyed a large part of the historic White House that belonged to the people to build a gaudy monstrosity for parties that only the rich and powerful will ever enjoy.
Nobody voted for this.
@WhiteHouse The criminal Trump doesn't personally pay for anything. He's a conman. Only a disgusting egomaniac would try to build a monument to himself larger than the people's White House.
