Ever wonder how political influence works?
Gift parcels from the AHA (ie: pokies lobby) lining the halls outside Labor MPs’ offices today. They weren’t happy to see us 😂
But there is a better way.
Tomorrow night, Wed 8 July, we're launching the Victorian Greens' plan to make housing affordable with @BarbaraPocock & Gabrielle de Vietri MP.
Because you deserve a home you can afford - we all do.
Did you know that Victorian graduate students pay full price fares on public transport?
Every other state gives them a discount.
4000+ have signed the petition to fix this. Add your name here: https://t.co/Pw8uG521kH
So come along and hear how together, we can fix the housing crisis.
There'll be mulled wine and snacks upon arrival, plus we'll finish the night with some Housing Karaoke (!).
6pm Wednesday, 8 July

10. The system is rigged against you
That's because the establishment parties are captured by developers, banks, and investors.
When prices go up, they win.
Housing affordability is a political choice - and Labor, Liberal and One Nation haven't chosen you.
But there is a better way.
Tomorrow night, Wed 8 July, we're launching the Victorian Greens' plan to make housing affordable with @BarbaraPocock & Gabrielle de Vietri MP.

9. The Labor Gov is demolishing, not building
The Victorian Labor Government has spent over $2.5 billion demolishing public housing and handing land to private developers.
Instead of building more public homes, retaining or repairing existing stock - they’re tearing them down.
8. Public housing is at rock bottom
Right now, Victoria has the lowest proportion of public housing in the entire country.
Meanwhile we have more than 120,000 Victorians waiting for a safe, affordable home...
7. You pay for reports you never use
Buyers are being forced to spend thousands on building, pest, and energy reports for homes they never win.
You're footing the bill just to chase properties you can't buy.
6. Underquoting wastes your time
Homes are advertised with low price guides people can never actually secure.
The result? You can spend weekends inspecting properties you simply cannot afford.
5. Street auctions drive up prices
These are high-pressure spectacles designed to create panic and push up prices even higher.
Reserve prices are hidden, and agents profit when you bid higher. But for buyers, it’s a losing game.
4. Stamp duty drains your savings
Stamp duty is a massive tax you have to pay before you even get your keys.
It’s an unnecessary upfront expense that hurts everyday people.
3. Ultra-wealthy property investors hoarding it for themselves
The wealthiest 1% own a quarter of all investment properties!?
They get tax breaks for buying up our houses, while everyone else struggles to get a foot in the door.
2. Ultra-wealthy property investors buying up stock
Did you know that for every home bought by a first home buyer, a wealthy property investor buys two?
You're competing against professional house hoarders.
This #NAIDOCWeek celebrates #50YearsOfDeadly. We look back at decades of First Nations resistance, the great progress Victoria's Treaty represents - and all the work that's left to do.
Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.

It’s hard to take seriously the Govt’s claim it’s interested in protecting children when their gambling 'reform' still allows 3 gambling ads/hr on TV and virtually unlimited ads online. We must stop letting these companies groom kids to gamble. #auspol
This is exactly why people are fed up with the major parties and we need to elect more Greens - who are the only ones right now who have any integrity. https://t.co/jc6u1RK8uV
It's infuriating watching Labor and the Liberals make referrals to IBAC while refusing to give it the powers it's been asking for.
Both major parties are more interested in the politics of corruption than fixing the laws that make it harder to investigate.
Premier Jacinta Allan has been referred to the corruption watchdog over bombshell Big Build allegations. In a shift of language from the top, Jacinta Allan doubled down on her apology to Victorians. @paul_dowsley
Victorians deserve better than these two major parties who only want to mudsling each other and don’t actually want to fix corruption.
Both of them are as bad as each other.
