When I was a student I paid ~£400 a month on rent. Compared to much of Scotland, Edinburgh is already expensive to rent in but the leap from £400 to over £1000 is awful. There needs to be a cap.

Everyone should recognise the value and joy that art brings to our society.

We are losing generations of artists. So many venues and festivals have closed or are I danger of it.

It's scary.

VAULT Festival was essential in the landscape of comedy and theatre. So many artists creating magic within those walls.

It's gutting to think that the arts mean so little to our government that we have to rely on investors that so often fall through.

I loved working there in 2018. I met amazing friends, saw incredibly inspiring theatre and comedy, connected with other creative and comedians. I felt like I was in the beating heart of it all.

It made me feel like forging your own way as an artist was possible.
