Post-doc in @LabYoule. Playing with protein phase separation, optogenetics and selective autophagy. Tweets represent my own view and not that of the @NIH
@DKThomp Loved the article, but one thing not mentioned was Baumol, which I think is quite relevant. Much more expensive to get outside help for child-care leads to more intensive parenting overall.
What happens when an assembly line runs too fast?
Things break down, like the chocolate factory scene from “I Love Lucy” 🍫
Cells have assembly lines too, like ribosome biogenesis
We show that cancer cells push this system to the breaking point (1/10)

It’s well known that inflammation increases cancer risk, but how?
The answer: the epigenome "remembers" inflammation and primes stem cells for cancer.

What a fun surprise to find that our work has been featured in a @JCellBiol spotlight!! Many thanks to Carlotta Peselj and Nora Vögtle for the great write up!
Excited to share my postdoc work, out on bioRxiv today! Histones package DNA into nucleosomes to form the building blocks of chromatin, but how modular and programmable is this system? 1/9

@NateSilver538 As someone who grew up in DC area and now lives here permanently, Washington cannot be that high - way too many transplants and many locals gave up fandom in the Snyder era. That ranking is way too biased based on what Jayden Daniels did last year.
Excited that our nucleolus mapping paper just came out today in Nature! Truly an amazing study from even more amazing due of @sofiquinodoz & @jiang_lifei w/ @LafontaineLab & Sebastian Klinge and other fantastic co-authors https://t.co/68W7vEHmps
@JerusalemDemsas@ezraklein@DKThomp On housing abundance. While NIMBYism is not the way to encourage growth in less populated places, is it really a worthwhile goal to encourage more super-city growth. Wouldn't it lead that to more resentment/polarization? Think of what happens in sports with "small markets".
@PodSaveAmerica Given Harris's over performance in the swing states compared to the overall country, why is there a focus on trans issues, since it seems from those swing state results that Trumps attack ads were not effective relative to Kamala's?
Our study decoding gastruloid symmetry breaking is now live @NatureCellBio!

Thank you to the NCB edititorial team and to our reviewers for a constructive review process which helped improve our study. A thread on updates (1/n):
Today's @NobelPrize for John Hopfield recognizes only one of his contributions - he's a true polymath. I strongly recommend his solo author PNAS papers (i) long-range e- tunneling in proteins (1974), (ii) kinetic proof-reading (1974), (iii) Hopfield nets (1982). Each is a gem!
Today @wmata announced a $28m FY24 year end surplus. This was due to aggressive cost mgmt reducing expenses by $62m. That is on top of $50+m savings developing the FY24 budget. So #wmata is delivering more and better service for $100+m less. Excellent job by the team!🧵1/3
We are excited to share our lab’s first research article! https://t.co/GKlHK0WjLz We have developed Transferrin Receptor Targeting Chimeras (TransTACs), a novel class of heterobispecific antibodies designed for targeted degradation of membrane proteins. https://t.co/spmBr6jp7w
