A great milestone to see the LabEmbryoCam used on the other side of the world for research into one of the natural world's greatest spectacles

Integrated with the stimulating science and conversation is the ever pressing need for experimental biology to contribute to our understanding of the biological impacts of global change.
We are in Edinburgh at the Centenary @SEBiology Conference as exhibitors. We are showcasing our new LabEmbryoCam - an open-source phenotypic platform.
With routes to both self-build and purchase, the LabEmbryoCam is incredibly accessible, modular and versatile.
After 3.5 years and many hours of lab work I defended my thesis! Words cannot express how grateful I am for my supervisory team @OliTills , @realdocspicer and @simonr63, my friends and family, and to my examiners for the great discussions! @ARIES_DTP @PlymUni@MBERC_PlymUni
For @ScienceWeekUK we are out visiting local schools. Biological development is a fundamental concept that is accessible at age 5 to 18. We are teaching both ends of this range. How many of these species can you identify? @PlymSciencePark @plymouthbiol @PlymUni@jamiemccoy95
Maria, a placement student from Chile, can atest to it being a balmy 5 degrees in the Plymouth Science Park SmartPond today. More great data from the ElectricBlue EnvLoggers and reassuring to finally see a drop in temperature in the UK to something closer to a seasonal norm.
A fantastic day at Futures2022 in the GuildHall, Plymouth City Centre. We engaged all ages with the fascinating world of baby marine animals and it was great to experience so much interest. Exciting to see such a breadth of great exhibits on show ๐ชด๐ฅ๏ธ๐ค๐จ๏ธ๐ฆท๐ชฅ๐ฌ
Key advantages of 'Energy Proxy Traits' are that they:
* Work across species
* Work across developmental stages
* Contain signals from specific physiological traits that themselves can be extracted and quantified
* Are high-dimensional and data rich
* Are high-throughput

Early development is the most dynamic period of life and choosing what to measure is akin to a luck dip. To overcome this we have been pioneering the use of phenomics approaches to measure 'everything that is visible', but as energy in the fluctuations of pixel values.
@EmbryoPhenomics are at AMMR4 exhibiting our innovative research approach and instruments. A great conference attended by an exciting community of international researchers who are pushing the boundaries of understanding biological impacts of global change #AMMR4#musselsarecoool
