We've dropped the paywall on all of our flood coverage at @TexasMonthly. Our journalists have been in the field with first responders, former campers, and those affected since last week.
There are so many stories that deserve telling.

BREAKING: The death toll is at 24 in Kerr County, according to the sheriff, from what officials call an “extraordinary catastrophe” as search and rescue missions continue into the night.
The state of Texas is surging all available resources to respond to the devastating flooding around the Kerr county area.
That includes water rescue teams, sheltering centers, the National Guard, the Texas Department of Public Safety.
The immediate priority is saving lives.
Our hearts and prayers are with the people of Kerrville and surrounding communities, as well as the entire Concho Valley and Hill Country, as they face ongoing severe weather and flooding.
These storms have brought dangerous conditions, and we are especially grateful for the brave first responders who are working around the clock to protect lives and property.
To everyone in the affected areas: please stay weather-aware, avoid flooded roads, and make responsible decisions that allow our emergency crews to do their jobs safely and effectively.
We’re closely monitoring the situation and stand ready to support those impacted. May God watch over you and give strength to all those on the front lines. #txlege

"'For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not give me clothing, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ Then they also will answer, ‘Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison and did not take care of you?’ Then he will answer them, ‘Truly I tell you, just as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me'" (Mt 25).
