Year 1 have loved their day in Saltburn today! We have been enquiring eagles, finding lots of interesting shells and rocks. We have also been building sandcastles and paddling in the sea!
Year 1 had a visit from some birds of prey last week!
We have been reading 'The Owl Who was Afraid of the Dark' and got to meet a real-life barn owl, as well as a peregrine falcon and burrowing owl.
Me: βWhy do you have a book in your pants?β
Child: βWell I really wanted to bring it to school but I had nowhere to put it.β π€·πΌββοΈ
Not a conversation I expected today π€£. The book was Esio Trot, if anyone was wondering π’ #yearone#primaryrocks#edutwitter#cp#reading#roalddahl
Year 1 have been sculpting shells this week for our Under the Sea topic.
They carefully studied some real shells and then moulded clay to imitate the features they had seen.
We look forward to them being dry enough to paint next!
@Katy_primary97 We donβt! Weβre lucky to have quite a bit of space so we have a few tables of 6 across our rooms for group work etc but itβs mostly all set up in βareasβ of CP βΊοΈ. Thereβs been a lot of trial and error for our first full year of it, but itβs worked really well for us!
Eliza in Year 1 really impressed us with the work she decided to do at home, where she explained how she demonstrates the values, attitudes and attributes of @HPLedu.
Well done, Eliza!

Our Year 1 children have been Creative Chameleons and have written wonderful stories which they made into books.
Alfie and Ava even treated Mrs Sharples and read her a chapter!
