Article 35 (1) Every citizen has the right of access to information held by the State.
Article 35 (3): The State SHALL publish and publicise any important information affecting the nation.
Disclosure of information is a Constitutional imperative not something left to the whims of one person. The era of secretive deals negotiated in the dark will end when we kick this current regime out and return our country back to the rule of Law.
Spent the final day in Kilifi County meeting a section of leaders from the coastal region…pole singeweza kupatana na kila mtu lakini tutarudi tena. Kuna shugli moja kali inaningoja huko Nairobi najua mtafurahi 😉
Today, H.E. Edwin Watenya Sifuna is in Kilifi as the Senate takes its work closer to the people through Senate Mashinani.
The Kilifi Central Fish Landing Project is yet another example of what happens when we don’t follow the law and put people at the centre when doing what may otherwise be good and necessary projects.
A fish landing facility is undoubtedly a much-needed investment for Kilifi’s fishing community. But a good project cannot be separated from the process through which it is conceived, designed and implemented.
When the community feels that their views have been ignored from conception to execution, what should have been celebrated as development can instead leave a bitter taste.
This is why public participation cannot be treated as a box to tick after decisions have already been made.
Today’s engagement is important because the Senate is not just inspecting a facility. It is listening to the people who are expected to use it, benefit from it and live with its impact, fishermen, traders, women’s groups and Beach Management Units.
We must restore participatory democracy where wananchi are not spectators in government decisions, but are at the centre of them.
Development must be done WITH the people, not merely FOR the people.
That is the essence of taking Parliament to the people.

The Kilifi Central fish landing project is yet another example of what happens when we don’t follow the law when doing shiny things. What is otherwise a much needed facility has left a bitter taste hapa because the community feels their views were totally ignored from conception to execution. We must restore participatory democracy where the people are at the centre of all decisions government makes.
@WanjuguGM Volume up…remind them!. It’s not about positions it’s about saving our country. Let’s not forget how the political class manipulate the masses.
@a_m_media_ke The good thing is HE Sifuna is still the subject matter/topic of discussion i.e consequential. Whether he can or cannot, he’s to be discussed and he will be discussed for making history
@BravinYuri 100% How? how are the western principals (I even doubt they were seen as principals)a problem when all they have projected is selflessness and loyalty to HE who is the subject unlike the selfish, self exhausted, self sentenced, self self self my self and I.
@AdrianOluoch Issue is we can’t afford a presidential candidate who is not a party leader. It’s the nature of our politics…it’s like using the presidential candidate to make the party popular and since the ultimate power rests with party leader…HE will be at their mercy
@AdrianOluoch I think the message is coming from Babu with clarity. Can’t work under anyone, Raila was his last boss. Of what use will it be discussing what babu has decided, attend few LM rallies
This is unacceptable and pure evil, it’s beyond corruption it’s utterly evil, almost 30% ya hard earned money, in bad working environment being stolen…Tax we understand, but this is not tax hii ni kuibia waiting…Nowadays you even don’t want to at your payslip #wantam #nikokadinaSifuna
Richard Onyonka: We have an alternative plan to the President’s. Don’t tell us that we have done nothing because we don’t have the resources; the resources are with the executive #CitizenDayBreak
