You stop spiritualising red flags & calling it divine timing. Sometimes, itâs not timing. Itâs trauma.
Hold yourself in the in between. The detox. The shaking. The missing. The part where your brain still craves the hit of dopamine that came from their half effort attention.
Thatâs not weakness. Thatâs not failure.
Thatâs information. Now what do you do with it? You grieve. Fully. Then, you get radical. You stop making excuses for the grey areas.
Radical acceptance sounds like: âI wanted this. I really did. I saw the best in them. I stayed longer than I shouldâve. I prayed, I tried, I over-explained, I softened every edge of myself so I wouldnât scare them off. And still⌠they didnât choose to meet me there.â
Ask instead: What version of you keeps tolerating emotional poverty while calling it love?
This is radical acceptance.
Itâs not passive. Itâs not about giving up.
Itâs the opposite.
Youâve already seen what you needed to see. The question now isnât what are they doing? The question is, why do you keep negotiating with the evidence? Itâs time to stop asking if theyâll change.
You feel hopeful. And those are not the same thing. Hope has kept you loyal to versions of people that only exist in your imagination. Hope has had you rehearsing timelines where they wake up, where they realise, where they finally become.
You need peace. You need truth.
You need reciprocity. And sometimes, the most powerful thing you can do is stop romanticising the potential & start responding to the reality. Even if it breaks your heart. Start here: You donât feel safe.
Bc the pain of facing the truth is still better than the pain of living in a loop that slowly kills your spirit. The healing begins when you stop waiting. Bc youâve finally started listening. You donât need more hope.
Youâve got to ask yourself brutally & compassionately: Do I feel safe here?
Or am I just addicted to the hope that maybe one day, theyâll become what I need? And if the answer hurts⌠thatâs okay. Let it hurt.
A lot of ppl are afraid that if they stop hoping, somehow theyâve failed. You havenât. Sometimes chemistry doesnât equal compatibility. At some point, youâve got to stop clinging to the potential of what this could be, & look at the reality of what it is.
No one teaches you how to admit you might be addicted to the hope of someone. Nor how to stop being loyal to someone who isnât emotionally equipped to receive what youâre offering. Some part of you knows that. Let me explainâŚ
And when the answer becomes clear, walk. Bc staying will only train your nervous system to confuse inconsistency with chemistry⌠and that is the seed of every trauma bond.
No, itâs not that theyâre evil. Itâs that theyâre unwhole.
Youâll think youâre building something real. But youâre just scaffolding around their emptiness. So if you ever meet someone like this⌠donât just listen to their words. Study them. Their history, how many exâs check, how they check in. How many doors left opened.
Erich Fromm said, âImmature love says: âI love you because I need you.â Mature love says: âI need you because I love you.ââ The validation seeker never learned the difference. To them, need is love. And so they confuse the two.
But itâs seductive. Bc theyâre skilled in romantic semiotics. They say all the right things. They give glimpses of paradise. They know how to perform presence. But itâs not grounded in integrity. Itâs rooted in fear, fear of not existing unless seen.
Bc to choose one means risking the loss of all others⌠and that, to them, feels like death. And once you begin to stand on your own once your gaze doesnât meet them with awe they seek a new host.
This isnât love. This is parasitic attachment.
And so, they collect attention like currency. Call it being friendly. Open. âNot ready to cut ppl off.â
But what theyâre really saying is: âI canât afford to lose a source of supply.âTo them, closure is a threat. Choosing 1 person means rejecting a thousand potential affirmations
So they hop, from heart to heart, from lover to lover, from one breadcrumb of attention to the next. The ex is never fully blocked. The future never fully chosen. They donât close doors, they keep them ajar, just wide enough to crawl back through.
They do not bond with ppl. They bond with how they feel about themselves through ppl
So they love you but only as long as you reflect back the fantasy of who they believe they should be. The moment you challenge them, or cease to feed their idealised self image, they discard you
