🚨 For 83 days, there has been a legal gap in the EU to detect and report Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
◼️ 90% of online child sexual abuse was found because platforms detected it. Now, they no longer can.
‼️ Close the legal gap.
‼️ Protect children, not predators.

No podemos pagar la deuda de los fondos Next castigando a los ciudadanos con más impuestos ni imponer ese modelo en los presupuestos europeos
I welcome today’s formal adoption by the Council of the two regulations implementing the tariff-related commitments set out in the EU–US Joint Statement.
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of all institutions and negotiators involved, we are now moving from political agreement to implementation.
This is an important step towards providing certainty for businesses, protecting jobs and strengthening the world’s most important economic partnership.

The EPP Group welcomes the agreement on stronger EU safeguards against workplace carcinogens, which will better protect workers while ensuring that companies have sufficient time and support to implement the new rules.
"Every year, around 120,000 workers in the EU are diagnosed with occupational cancer linked to exposure to carcinogens at work. This is a preventable tragedy that we cannot accept. By introducing stricter exposure limits, this agreement will better protect workers' health, reduce risks in the workplace and strengthen decent working conditions," said @LiesbetSommen Sommen MEP, the European Parliament’s chief negotiator on the file, after the successful end of the negotiations between EU Member States and the European Parliament.

The EPP Group has long pushed for a stronger Europol with a clearer operational role in complex cross-border investigations.
We call for making full use of Europol's potential in a changing criminal landscape, including expanding its mandate to cover hybrid threats such as sabotage against critical infrastructure, and the creation of a European Cyber-Brigade coordinated by the Agency to tackle cybercrime and hybrid attacks.
"Europol must become Europe’s operational security backbone," said @LenaDuepontMdEP
MEP, EPP Group Spokesperson on Home Affairs. "That means stronger powers in cross-border investigations, a broader mandate to address emerging threats, better information sharing, and more staff and resources to deliver real operational impact."

"Criminal networks operate across borders. Law enforcement must be able to do the same. Europol needs to be significantly strengthened so it can become truly operational, more efficient, and better equipped to support Member States in fighting organised crime and terrorism," said @tomastobe MEP, EPP Group Vice-Chair, ahead of today’s presentation of the European Commission’s Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Package.

The EPP Group wants to cut red tape and speed up procedures to strengthen Europe’s defence industry and defence readiness.
This week, the Parliamentary Committees are voting on the Defence Omnibus V package, which aims to simplify permit granting, defence procurement and defence investments.
"We cut red tape, speed up permit procedures and enable Europe’s defence industry to scale up production faster, more efficiently and with greater predictability," says Henrik Dahl MEP, Parliament’s negotiator on the file in the Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee.
"We reduce unnecessary bureaucracy in defence procurement," adds Pekka Toveri MEP, Parliament’s negotiator on the file in the Security and Defence Committee.
"We are strengthening Europe’s ability to deliver the defence capabilities needed to meet today’s security challenges," concludes Aura Salla MEP, Parliament’s lead negotiator on the file in the Industry, Research and Energy Committee.

‼️ Protect children, not predators.

We cannot accept this legal vacuum.

DEAL REACHED: SAME JOB, SAME CANCER PROTECTION ACROSS EUROPE
The EPP Group welcomes today’s agreement on stronger EU safeguards against workplace carcinogens, which will better protect workers while ensuring that companies have sufficient time and support to implement the new rules.
"Every year, around 120,000 workers in the EU are diagnosed with occupational cancer linked to exposure to carcinogens at work. This is a preventable tragedy that we cannot accept. By introducing stricter exposure limits, this agreement will better protect workers' health, reduce risks in the workplace and strengthen decent working conditions," said @LiesbetSommen MEP, the European Parliament’s chief negotiator on the file, after the successful end of the negotiations between EU Member States and the European Parliament.
"A worker in Antwerp deserves exactly the same protection as a worker in Athens or Lisbon. And vice versa. By finally establishing European limit values for a range of substances, we are putting an end to the patchwork of national rules that still leaves workers too often dependent on the country in which they work," Sommen continued.
The deal gives businesses sufficient time and support to adapt to the new requirements. "We also take into account the reality on the ground and have therefore given explicit extra attention to SMEs and micro-enterprises. They are the ones who must put these rules into practice. With good guidelines, support, and a strong social dialogue, we ensure that the protection of our workers also remains effectively workable," Sommen concluded.

What happens to creativity in the age of AI?
Today, MEP @EvaMaydell brought together experts in the European Parliament, including Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, to discuss the future of culture.
AI is transforming how we create and consume culture. But creativity remains deeply human.
Europe must embrace AI as a tool for progress while protecting cultural diversity, democratic values, and human expression.
Europe’s security depends not only on what capabilities we possess but also on how quickly we can deploy them. By removing barriers to military movement, we are strengthening our collective defence, reinforcing the European pillar of NATO, and sending a clear message: Europe is prepared to take greater responsibility for its own security," said Michał Szczerba MEP, the Parliament's lead negotiator on military mobility in the Defence Committee.
