What a beautiful and deeply meaningful celebration of love, family and tradition at the Koito ak Chaik of Charlene Chelagat Ruto @charlruto and Isaiah Yunke.

It was truly an honour and a blessing to be invited to witness two families coming together in love. My heartfelt congratulations to H.E. President William Ruto @WilliamsRuto and First Lady Mama Rachel Ruto @MamaRachelRuto, to Isaiah’s parents and family, and especially to Charlene and Isaiah as they take this beautiful step together.

The day was also filled with wonderful nuggets of wisdom on love, relationships and marriage. The President’s candid advice to the single young men and women in the gathering was both refreshing and grounded. My Party Leader, Dr. Oburu Odinga @droburu_o, in his characteristic way, was bold enough to say some of the things that need to be said but often aren’t, and Mama Ida Odinga @idaodinga equally shared beautiful words of wisdom. You could see Charlene and Isaiah taking it all in, knowing that every word came from a place of experience and love.

Charlene and Isaiah, may God guide your journey and keep love, friendship and faith at its centre. Shine bright, today and always. ❤️

Today, we remember the innocent lives lost and honour the survivors of the August 7, 1998 bomb blast, whose strength and resilience continue to inspire us. Through NGAAF, I have supported survivors, and I remain committed to standing with them.

Even as you go about your day in Nairobi's CBD or anywhere across our country, take a moment to remember the lives we lost and those whose lives were forever changed by this tragedy. Let it remind us to continue choosing peace over violence, unity over division, and compassion over hatred.

The private security officers protect homes, schools, hospitals, factories, farms and places of worship, making them a critical pillar of the country's security infrastructure and economic productivity.

Additionally, to accord private security officers the respect they deserve, any references to ‘watchman’ and ‘guards’ will be expunged from all Government documents. These terms are a colonial relic and must be discarded. The officers will now be referred to as private security officers.

Today, I had the privilege of addressing members of Kenya's private security sector and calling for policies that improve their livelihoods. I urge the Government to consider targeted tax incentives for labour-intensive industries such as private security to encourage more employment opportunities. I also appealed for security guards' Affordable Housing Levy contributions to be recognised as housing credit, enabling them to own the homes they have helped build.

As ODM, we remain firmly committed to the Broad-Based Government because our priority is the stability, unity and development of Kenya. We choose dialogue over division, peace over violence, and service over politics. As we prepare for 2027, let every Kenyan exercise their democratic right peacefully and freely. Together, we will continue building a stronger, more inclusive Kenya.
