We need to agree the EU's next long-term budget by the end of this year.
Our discussion yesterday has helped us to make progress.
I will now accelerate the work, so that we can deliver.
#EUCO
Final debate of today’s #EUCO - migration.
The numbers show that the EU’s comprehensive approach is working: irregular border crossings into the EU are at their lowest level since 2021.
But we must remain vigilant and intensify the fight against migrant smuggling and against all forms of instrumentalisation of migrants.
At #EUCO today, leaders will hold a strategic discussion on migration.
The number of irregular arrivals has fallen in recent years thanks to sustained cooperation with partner countries and preventive measures in key departure and transit countries.

Starting #EUCO day 2, joined by President @ZelenskyyUa.
Our resolve to stand by Ukraine and its people was there from Day 1 of Russia’s invasion. We have delivered on that commitment ever since - politically, financially and militarily.
Now is the time to maintain our support for Ukraine, to increase the pressure on Russia and to make progress on Ukraine’s accession path.
The EU has stood with Ukraine since the very first day of Russia’s invasion.
@ZelenskyyUA’s presence today is a message to all those watching that the EU’s support for Ukraine remains as strong as ever. https://t.co/VdIIdVIQ6G
Finishing the day with a strategic debate on EU enlargement and internal reforms.
This week we had intergovernmental conferences with Montenegro, Ukraine, Moldova and Albania. Driven by the reforms, the accession process is making progress.
At the same time, we must get ready to welcome new members in the EU family.
Now discussing the EU’s next long-term budget.
Our objective remains to reach an agreement by the end of this year. Today’s discussion will bring us closer to that goal.
Next on the #EUCO agenda - trade.
We will take stock of the imbalances affecting the global economy and their impact on European industry.
We must step up a results-oriented dialogue with our international partners, while enhancing our toolbox of trade instruments.
European businesses must be able to compete under fair conditions.
The EU is making progress on the One Europe, One Market roadmap across areas such as posting of workers, FDI screening and simplification of EU rules for businesses.
Since its launch, 12 agreements have been reached by the Council and the Parliament.

Now discussing Europe’s response to high energy prices. They are putting pressure on households and businesses. They are undermining our competitiveness.
The EU is working on a coordinated response.
Targeted, temporary measures are essential to ease the burden and reduce price volatility.
Longer term, we need to continue to reduce Europe’s dependency on fossil fuels.
#EUCO
The #EUCO meeting has started!
Welcoming @EP_President Roberta Metsola to take stock of progress on our “One Europe, One Market” agenda.
We are turning commitments into action. We need to maintain our ambition and move faster.
To deliver more jobs, stronger businesses and better lives for Europeans.
High and volatile energy prices are putting pressure on households and businesses and undermining our competitiveness.
That’s why we need a coordinated European response, with targeted and temporary measures to cut energy bills and contain price volatility. In the longer-term, the energy transition remains our best answer. Reducing our dependence on fossil fuel markets is essential to Europe’s strategic autonomy and resilience.
Energy will be a central focus for Leaders at tomorrow’s European Council.
Our goal is clear: to protect Europeans and strengthen our economic resilience.
Social dialogue is a cornerstone of the EU social model.
Our Tripartite Social Summit is always a valuable opportunity to exchange with representatives of Europe’s workers, employers and SMEs.
A stronger Europe must also be a fairer Europe. And that is the Europe we are determined to deliver.

Today’s Tripartite Social Summit focused on two important topics, the EU’s next long-term budget and competitiveness.
Our discussions have reinforced a fundamental conviction: our economic strength and social model must advance together. https://t.co/xZ1Wz1CIyS
Today I had very useful meetings at @EuroParl_EN ahead of tomorrow’s #EUCO.
With @EP_President we took stock of the progress on the EU’s ‘One Europe, One Market’ competitiveness agenda. Leaders will continue the discussion with @RobertaMetsola at the European Council.
I also met with the Parliament’s #MFF Contact Group to discuss the EU’s next long-term budget.
The next MFF must be fully in place at the start of 2028. That is the only way to make sure that there will be no interruption in funding for our farmers, regions, researchers, students, and companies.
Good to meet with @mwitucki on his 100th day as President of @BusinessEurope.
Ahead of the Tripartite Social Summit tomorrow, we discussed the progress on implementing the EU’s ‘One Europe, One Market’ agenda.
Our action plan to make it easier for companies to scale up, create jobs, and do business across the Single Market - to deliver a more competitive, prosperous EU.
The EU stands in full solidarity with Bulgaria following last night's attacks on cargo vessels off its coast.
Attacks on civilian shipping and merchant vessels in the Black Sea are escalating. They are totally unacceptable.
The European Council will address the situation and the intensification of Russia’s hybrid campaigns at its meeting later this week.
