My dear friend Francis Foster is most known as a podcast bro and comic but in a previous life, he was a supply teacher (in the US, we call it substitute teacher).

You would know this of course if you are a @triggerpod fan because he always brings this up, almost as often as his Venezuelan heritage.

Francis went into the schools thinking he'd inspire minds but instead, he left with PTSD and enough material to become a comedian.

Most people think British schools are posh but that is the minority experience. The real British public education system is a lot less 'Dead Poets Society,' and more 'Lord of the Flies' where chaos rules the day - with teachers enduring prepubescent sociopaths sabotaging lessons, figuring out which kid defecated in the sink, and breaking up fights (including between warring grandmas).

Beyond the war stories, Francis delivers a sharp, uncompromising critique of the UK education system's failures - how it lets down the most vulnerable children, the bureaucratic mess, the underfunded budgets, inconsistent support and a system too focused on box ticking than actual learning.
