Parenting is a journey filled with love, challenges, sacrifices, and endless learning. Yet many parents and caregivers are expected to navigate this journey with little support.
This #ParentingMonth, let's recognize that supporting parents is one of the most effective ways to help children thrive.
When caregivers are empowered, children are more likely to grow, learn, and reach their full potential.

Today is #GlobalDayOfParents
This year's theme, "Together for Parents", couldn't ring more true. No parent or caregiver should have to do it alone.
We walk with parents, building knowledge, skills & community through our Family Basic Education (FABE) model.
To every parent: we see you. Thank you.

🎤 These young voices said it best!
Pupils from Nakivubo Blue Primary School took to the stage at the 2026 MHH Day National Conference with a powerful poem on girl child education, and they did not disappoint. 👏🏾
Every girl deserves to learn, grow, and shine - with dignity.

What moved me most was the community turnout. Parents, caregivers, implementing partners, and advocates showing up & walking for Uganda's youngest children. This is what policy is ultimately for.
Years of advocacy. One landmark moment. The work continues.

Some moments take time to sit with.
This picture was taken during the ECCE Walk on 29th April, the day before Uganda launched its National ECCE Policy, alongside Hon. Dr. Joyce Moriku Kaducu, State Minister for Education and Sports (Primary Education).

Storytelling is one of the most powerful tools in the ECD advocacy toolkit, and last week, @LABE_UG took a deliberate step to strengthen it.
In partnership with @MovingMindsECD through their Reporters for Early Age Children in Humanitarian Crisis (REACH) Network, we brought together radio, print, TV, and digital journalists from across West Nile in Arua to ask a hard question: why are the youngest children in crisis-affected communities so rarely in the news; and what does it take to amplify their stories in mainstream media?
The day was spent building the knowledge, confidence, and connections journalists need to cover early childhood development with depth and care, and put ECD firmly on the media agenda.

📻 A teacher at the mic. Families tuned in. One story bringing them together.
Our Live Shared Book Reading program put teachers on local radio, reading HLC storybooks live on air, while families gathered at the library to listen and respond in real time.
Last week, Vision Group recognised their partnership with LABE and highlighted this program as one causing real impact. Partnerships like this are what make our work possible.

Mothers are a child's first safe space, first teacher, and first home. Today, we celebrate every mother who pours love, patience, and strength into raising the next generation.
Happy Mother's Day! 💛

Our Executive Director, @Executive_LABE, is in Kigali this week at the Global Technical Financing Forum, where governments, donors, and partners are tackling one of the most persistent gaps in development: the chronic under-investment in young children.
Early years matter. Funding must follow.

In Kigali for the Global Technical Financing Forum. Three days of hard, necessary conversation about why most countries allocate less than 2% of education budgets to pre-primary, and what it will take to change that.

Yesterday we walked to put early childhood care and education where it belongs: at the centre of Uganda's development agenda.
Today Uganda's National ECCE Policy is officially launched. A milestone for every child, family, and community across the country.

The new ECCE policy sets out to improve access to quality pre-primary education and bring consistency across early learning centres. It responds to gaps in training, materials, and infrastructure.
As Uganda moves to implement the National ECCE Policy, LABE is ready.
Our home-based ECD model brings early childhood care and education directly to children and families in their communities.
The policy sets the vision. We are committed to help make it real.

Uganda's National ECCE Policy has arrived.
After years of advocacy, consultation, and community voices being heard, the policy that puts our youngest children first was officially launched. This is what a strong beginning looks like for a nation.
We congratulate the Ministry of Education and Sports and all partners who made this day possible. The work continues.

Happening Now
We are happy to join the Planning meeting for the launch of the ECCE policy. The Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Policy was approved by the Uganda Cabinet in May 2024 to formalize and regulate the development of children from birth to six years old. Following the approval of critical standards and guidelines by the First Lady in February 2026, the Network for Early Childhood Development Actors (NECDA) is now coordinating the official launch and dissemination process. And we are happy to participate in the planning process for its launch while emphasising the importance of ECCE and centering the children of Uganda.
