Robust relief must be retroactive. Join the tens of thousands of unemployed workers in meeting, calling, and writing their legislators through https://t.co/rV3fOuXDQG to demand what YOU need in this next relief bill. #Retroactivity#TaxRelief#ExtendPUA#ExtendUI
@Bitcorn4eva Our website has valuable resources and there are still a plethora of issues facing people who were unemployed during the pandemic and independent contractors / others not normally eligible for UI.
It's 2 years into this mismanaged pandemic and people who are, or were, unemployed through no fault of their own are still feeling the hits, making recovery after programs ended prematurely even more difficult.

Huge day for movement to #FixUI - @USDOL announces $15 million for states to work with community navigators to bridge equity gaps in #unemployment benefits take-up. Navigators have been a fixture of #snap and #CHIP benefits https://t.co/KlgJ2vFZD0
Congress has no problem collecting additional taxes from independent contractors, but not a peep about making them eligible for Unemployment Insurance. #ExtendPUA#FixUI
Instead of taxing the rich, @POTUS & Congress went after average Americans trying to hustle including:
-Airbnb hosts making just $600/year (previously a $20,000 threshold).
-People who sell things over Venmo/Paypal/Etsy (mostly makers & artists)
Really? That's the problem?
"When you account for workers who are marginally attached to the labor force and those who are employed part-time for economic reasons — a more comprehensive measure of the unemployment rate — unemployment was 7.3 percent." @Groundwork
"The unemployment rate for Black workers (7.1%) remained more than twice as high as the rate for white workers (3.2%)-a result of structural racism that policy changes have not been transformative enough to uproot.
the same politicians who say "people can't afford to miss work because of the pandemic" are also not interested in making sure those workers can afford to miss work
What was that bragging we heard about "unexpectedly low new UI claims" numbers?
Guess who else can't file for UI? People who left their jobs, even if they left for safety or health reasons during a pandemic.

@TheDemocrats Resolve to actually help Americans through this ongoing pandemic and the electing will be much easier.
#ExtendUI#ExtendPUA#FixUI oh and make free (K)N95s and COVID tests widely available.
@WHCOS This is not the flex the White House is pretending it is. Millions of Americans are no longer ELIGIBLE to file for unemployment because of expired pandemic programs and maxed out weeks. Businesses are closing again & there's zero safety net for workers.

Starting a thread for stories here. How are you all?
As always, after you tell us, you can use the tools on our website to tell your representatives in Congress.
@Goddess_Moon@HouseDemocrats@SenateDems@POTUS Trump didn't create any of those programs. Congress created them when faced with an unprecedented event with panic. Now they've politicized the virus and returned to prioritizing the rich and corporations instead of the people.
They won't lock down or shut down precisely because they don't want to talk about the nothing that government would do for workers in that situation.
AND YET restaurants, shows, & businesses are still having to close their doors. & there's no help for the affected workers.
if you are gonna start talking about lockdowns and shutdowns may i also suggest you start talking about what the government does for the workers and businesses that are fucked in that equation.
Yike! If you lost work and March 2020 and went back to work on July 2021, you would be ineligible for state #UI if you lost work and filed in the 4th quarter of 2021 due to Omicron closures #Unemployment
