they spend tons of resources on individually rendered grains of sand, which makes the game run so poorly that they need to slap loads of upscaling and framegen on it, which makes the game so blurry that you will never even get to see said details. aaa devs have brain damage
i still do quite alot of pixel art (although these days its more reg digital art) i just never post it anymore lol
might have to change that soon because i may or may not have been cookin on smth minecraft related for the past nearly 2 years that id like to get out soon
Not to die on old hills but you have to stop thinking neatly indexed colour palettes is the be all end all of art like this. It's a very effective texture, that would be less effective if it had more "clean" palette

The reason i prefer old netherrack is because it looks like a texture you would see in the overworld, but twisted to look fleshy
a familiar texture you once linked to safety has been turned into a gritty, fleshy block located in an unfamiliar and harsh environment
